In episode 22, Restless, I know the dreams are meant to be all weird and things, but in Buffy's dream, when she's in the Initative with Riley and the other guy, when Riley says "We have things to name" then Buffy says to the guy "What was yours?", He says "Before Adam, not a man among us can remember," (Or something to that effect) I don't get it, was it implying, that he was like the human parts of Adam or what? I seriously don't understand it.

hahahah yeah me too. restless is in general a very vague ep and i still find new things even though i've seen it a bagillion times.
 
I know, I've seen it at least 25 times probably, lol, and I still don't understand half of it lol 😀
 
I think so, It seems like Adam was a human, that was the main part of him, he then had machine and demon parts to replace his own makeing him who he was.

Cuz Adam was pretty Humnan, He was curious and thought about thinks, wanted to know how things, and himself worked!

In Restless we get to see his old human self, before the demon parts!
 
it seems to me that the man with Riley in Buffy's dream was the base for what eventually became Adam. maybe he was a soldier, who worked for the Initiative and Maggie Walsh, and either died on the job, or was recruted for a new 'project'. they took his body and added all the demon and computer pieces and he became Adam, remiving everything that remained off the man he was, which would explain how he doesn't remember his original name.

and, he gives Spike a Scout's Honor in one episode. Spike asked, astonished, if he was a boy scout, and Adam replies 'Parts of me' which means he's either referring to his oringial human body, or that more than one human went into creating Adam.
 
I agree with that whole not knowing his name thing because he was made up also of machine and demon.

But whoever he was, might I say that he was hot in Restless! Non-"Adam" Adam was very easy on the eyes 🙂
 
That sounds to complicated for me, I saw Adam as the hellmouths answer to the six million dollar man.
 
It's still real complicated to me, but if it's Buffy's dream why would she ask someone in HER dream such a question when it's not really him who answers it, but actually how she dreamed he would answer it? After she destroyed Adam, he really isn't of any importance through the rest of the story. But as we see later in season 5, everyone questions who they really are. Examples-Tara thinks she's a demon, Dawn has problems in feeling like she's really Buffy's sister, Spike actually falls in love with a slayer and he's a soulless vampire, Anya goes through a hard time dealing with her being mortal, and Buffy wants to go back to the roots of the 1st slayer. List goes on, but I just feel that the whole Adam's name is really a metaphor to the gangs identifying themselves.
