What are the top 5 programs you absolutely have to have on your PC?

We'll dismiss the obvious browsers & of course Operating Systems. I'm talking about those programs you use all the time and just wouldn't be without. 🙂 You never know, we might all find a new invaluable program. 😀

Mine would be:-

  1. Photoshop
  2. Dreamweaver
  3. ACE FTP
  4. Thunderbird
  5. Norton
 
1. Adobe Acrobat (last version I purchased was 7.0 - reader doesn't do what I need)
2. Microsoft Works (word, office, excel etc.)
3. ABBYY Finereader Corporate
4. ComicRack (for my e-comics - yes I back up all my purchases with digital versions)
5. iTunes (gotta have the tunes! Plus video downloads)
 
Well, I´m boring. I can´t come up with anything since I guess msn doesn´t count. 😉 And even if you need "protection" I can´t say I care that much which one it is, as long as it does it´s job. But I´d love to have photoshop or something.

And of course I´d terrible miss

Oh, so we should mention Microsoft works? Well then, I defintely need that.

And of course there´s also VLC and the audioplayer.

Other than the browser, Safari, my most used programs are iPhoto (for photos! 😉), VLC (video playback), Vuze (formerly Azureus - bittorrent client), Cyberduck (ftp/sftp - I sometimes use Fugu for this also)and iTunes (for tunes!).

As I've said before VLC is the media player of the gods...it's played everything I can chuck at it, with no need to update codecs, or any of that other techy stuff.

My step-son got me the latest version if iPhoto and showed me some of the new features (and also older features which had passed me by 🙂)...it is a superb photo editor, which enables you to rescue pictures that, on other programs I've used would be unsalvageable.

Yeah, VLC is great.
Hmm....I'm trying to think now. Well I use photoshop quite a lot- gotta get me some good LJ icons together now and then after all, haha- so that'd be on the list. Skype...oh and itunes....Gosh, I think that's it. I'm not as up on computers as I'd like to think apparently. So yes my list is:

1. Photoshop
2. Skype (The cheaper, easier way to call relatives in England 😉 Haha)
3. iTunes (For without it my ipod, Crazy Larry, would be lonely and musicless and that would be tragic)

Illustrator scares me 'lol' I keep opening it, looking at it, and then fiddling and then close it without actually making anything!

I'm not sure whether to include programs already installed on my computer when I got it.. but I will anyway.

I guess my top 5 programs would be:
- Firefox - I'm not a fan of IE, I've always preferred Firefox
- iTunes - I'd be lost without my music and my iPod would be lost without iTunes!
- Solitaire
- MSN
- MS Word - Even though I have 2007 which confuses the heck out of me.

I had the same problem with Word '07, so I downloaded Open Office, which is the same setup as Word '03, and free.
Let's see...

- Photoshop
- Internet browser (Safari or Firefox.)
- iTunes
- Microsoft Office (but, if I had to choose one, Word.)
- DVD Player (I didn't know what to say, okay?)
 
I only need two

Windows Live Messenger and Messenger Plus! Live

and not really a program but i'd need a patched UXTheme.dll too
 
Lets just say, the only programs i cant do without are games. And three of those would have to be The Sims, Starcraft, and Dawn of War. Which is why i am getting a new computer, to handle the sequels of all 3. So basically, my computer just needs a good graphics card lol.
