1st bone...underneath the stars...lol....seriously now...i didn't like the way how willow was hit on by one of the slayers in training...way to forced...writers need to be more subtle like we used to.....i don't got a problem with lesbians... but i do have a problem with everyone salivating bout more lesbianism...if you want les action...its only a url away...or go buy some porn

2nd bone...buffys speech was so gay gay gay...who ever wrote that should be fired for it being so basic "were not out of the game speech"...and fire the makeup staff...buff's face should be swollen after the beating she took...not just some patches and knicks...

1 gold star...fighting in buff vs uber in cave was stellar...put some acrobatics in it...they must've listened to my advice...

yall need to stop overspeculating bout giles, fe, and whatever...all will be answered...patience
 
Heh, I completely disagree with all of that, especially the first part!

This is just the way Kennedy hits on people. The writers shouldn't force it because she's lesbian, but should keep it subtle either, because she's lesbian. The should find the way that fits the character and Kennedy seems to have a little bit of a forcing way, not to subtle. Her pick-up lines aren't affected by her sexuality and that's a good thing.

Maybe Buffy's speech was a little cheesy, but it was nescessairy and it fits her character perfectly. (again with the overuse of "gay")

Why can't we speculate on Giles, the truth is something we will only learn in time, I admit, but we can try to figure it out sooner.
 
Well, I half agree and half disagree.

First of all, I think it's way too soon to say that "Oh, that's just Kennedy." We don't know that, I'm not sure the writers even know that, and so yes, it came across really forced. I mean, think about it, what if a Kennedy had said that to a guy (and she was straight) or Will was straight and a guy said that to her? Would it have worked then? Hmmm...maybe. But The person would have come across as only wanting sex and not great material for a relationship.

As for Buffy's speech, I agree with Allycat. Yeah, somewhat cheesey, but necessary to further the plot, and it makes for a good cliff hanger.
 
Kennedy: off course the writers know what she's like, they plan the whole season and sure they have to improvise at first, but they allready know what she's like. I mean if you look at the "weapon"-scene I can only conclude that she's a very determind person, who won't let go if she sets her mind on anything. If she is indeed this kind of person, it's not strange at all. What if a (part-time wolf) guy came up to you and started flirting like Kennedy, could there still be a great relationship ?
 
If it were another guy hitting on willow like that no one would care...so why is Kennedy doing that such a big deal? Tara was so insecure, getting a girl in there that isnt is a nice contrast.

Yea, buffy's speech was a bit cheesy, but i think it was fitting....

The action with the Ubervamp was good...no complaints about that..

and Soulgasm, how come if you don't have a problem with gay people, you use the word gay to describe Buffy's speech...anyone who uses gay as a negative adjective is either ignorant or homophobic...

About Uber vs. Buff - I didn't think the fight in the cave was too great. Instead, I loved the fight at the end where Buffy really got her ass kicked. That was stellar.

About Kennedy - Yeah, and Kennedy knew Willow was gay because...? I thought that was kinda retarded; I don't care if you're gay or not, there is no way you could just tell Willow is gay. And that's basically what the writers were doing. Better to just not have her be gay at all...😉

Yea I think it was kinda dumb that Kennedy somehow knew that Willow was gay...at least with Tara they just kinda stumbled onto it....

I do agree with this logic. That's pretty much the first thing I thought when the line was delivered. "How does she know Willow's hetero?"

On the other hand I don't think it was forced at all. People have been known to deliver a cheesy pick-up line on occasion. That's what I took Kennedy's line as.

Were there some big holes in this episode? Heck yeah there were. I mean does Marti actually expect us to believe none of the girls are going to hug Giles and Xander might not give him a good hand shake? I so do not think so. Recall season 6 when Giles returned after Buffy's revival. Buffy hugged him immediatly.

The next obvious hole, "Why is Spike being drowned?" Obviously we all go "He's a vamp, he doesn't need air." and the next obvious point.. "Angel spent 3 months under water." Well I don't know if Angel was actually exposed to water or if his encasing was air tight. So I'm not going to use that argument. Spike obviously can't drown, but having your insides filled with water still may not be the most comfortable experience in the world. This whole scene remains questionable.

Buffy's ending speech... Cheesy? Sure. She did exactly what the group needed at that moment. She let them know she wasn't going to give up. The scoobies felt defeated, they had seen their champion fall to just a tool of the First Evil, not even the First Evil itself. It was your classic "Let's go Get'em" speech just like your football coach gives you before the game. It's always cheesy, but effective none the less.

My personal biggest problem with this episode had nothing to do with the content. It just so happens the UPN feed here in Dallas kept cutting in and out. So I constantly missed lines due to a black screen. Now that was truly unnerving.
 
Maybe Giles told 'em about the Scoobs conditions during the long and boring flight to america? She didn't say "let's have sex", she was a little more subtle, but just she showed interest!

The whole episode was cramped they didn't have time to waste time on shaking hands.

Uh, why would Spike swallow all the water in the first place?

I thought I was the only one. Turns out UPN just tends to suck ass for everybody. I think every episode so far has had a black out and I've missed at least 3 Anya lines, which is a bit upsetting.
 
check this...there is no way that buffy would say that in her character...whenever she fails big....she shuts down...never does she have the resolve immiediately to deal with a problem...when?

1. end of season 2
2. end of season 5

fight or flight...evantually she does both...but she does the flight first when she has no idea how to win...
 
The significance of Spike being pushed into water was not to drown him. The scene was originally filmed with this being holy water. The water burned his face as well as his insides. The after-shot also showed Spike's shoulders very damaged and you can see bone almost. This of course was too gruesome, so the dialogue and make-up pertaining to it beinf holy water was removed, making you believe he is just being "drowned".
 
Well bravo, I agree with the flight/fight part, however she has this sort of beheaviour only at the end, when the match is about to be decided, and the real battle of S7 still has to begin, so we still have a few more eps to go before she starts to back out, for now I think this is totally in-character!

the holy water thing would make a lot more sense.. i actually thought that when i first watched the episode. but yeah, like you said it would have been too gruesome :\

which is a shame, because trying to drown him makes no sense at all
 
I really thought Buffy's speech was great and not cheesy. As for Willow and Kennedy, I think Kennedy should step back and let Willow breath. Come on the poor girl saw her girlfriend being shot in the chest and she was about to kill her friends! Let the girl breath!
