I finished about 8 episodes yesterday and I am so sad it's over!! Great character development, great story lines, and a great cast. So I'll be watching Serenity is a few days (it's in my Netflix que).

I'll make this a spoiler free post, but I could see that this was really going places. There were lots of "open" story lines, and I have no idea how all of it is going to be resolved in Serenity.

BTW, I'm still hoping there will be a Millow (Merrick and Willow) story line. That could be the greatest thing EVER!!! 😀

"Firefly" was definitely cancelled way befre it's time. It is so sad cause it could have been such an epic show. "Serenity" is a great movie and it does help tie up a few loose ends but it also leaves it open to interpretation in some ways too...

Oh Firefly... how we miss thee. And yeah Serenity was a means of wrapping things up and leaving other things open for continuation. Honestly the whole movie could have been elongated and turned into a full season... *sigh*
I've been feeling the same thing lately in relation to other cancelled shows (Dirty Sexy Money, Life Unexpected). I hate that a lot of the time they don't even let it go in a place where the loose ends are tied up like they did (kind of) when Angel got cancelled.

I think it might have been better if the show had been aired the order it was supposed to. The network didn't think that the opener two-parter 'Serenity' would be able to attract the audience, so it aired 'The Train Job' first, and then it all went downhill from there. I think they showed 'Objects in Space' before 'Out of Gas' and things like that.

Plus, they kept shifting it around in the schedule, so the fans that it did have, they lost anyway because they couldn't find the damn show!

Happiness is....

Going to my Netflix queue to order Serenity, and finding out......

I STILL HAVEN'T SEEN DISC 4!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say, I'm happier than a dead pig in the sunshine. Three more episodes of Firefly, then "Serenity." Life is good. 😛

haha!!! You need to see disc 4 then!!! Woo!! I should really re-watch firefly & the movie soon.😀

Firefly is my favourite Whedon show. Enough said really. Happy for you that you still got another disc to watch.

I'm watching right now too, and everytime I finish an episode I think "That was so great, it just can't get any better" and then I'm proved wrong. I just watched Trash last night (aack-naked NF!!). My fav so far was Out of Gas- absolutely fabulous & if they had known about the fate of the series could've worked as a series finale especially if
he hadn't survived
. I am just incredibly hooked into these characters.

The Firefly blues is terrible.
I even avoid to watch the show because of it. It's just too depressing knowing that it will end so early.

It's unbelievable how often I sit and think 'There needs to be more Firefly'. I only got the show on DVD for my 14th birthday, so I've been fully aware of it for nearly two years, but it quickly grew to be one of my favourite shows. To be honest, I really don't think it got the run it deserved, there was so much more that could have been explored, within the 'verse and the lives and relationships of all the characters. In someways, Serenity was a God-send, it filled in a lot of blanks, and was pretty much a good way for the series to go out, but I still would love to see more, too many amazing shows get cancelled way before they manage to get their due, and Firefly is definitely one of them.

Totally agree!! I watched all of it and Serenity and loved it!! Instead of being sad, think of it as a miniseries, or an 18 hour movie. 🙂

Isn't it amazing that Joss:

a. Had a crummy movie turned into an amazing 7 Season show (plus 5 seasons of Angel);

b. Had a TV Show that flopped turned in a movie with an 81% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes?

Joss is amazing. 😛

I think there are still Firefly stories to tell, and I'm wondering if someday Joss will try a show within the Firefly 'verse (not the same characters necessarily). Kinda like the various Star Trek shows. Or a spin-off with one or some of the characters.

I would have loved more Firefly 🙁 I went through the same thing with Dollhouse. I watched it, forced my friends to watch it, then spent the next few weeks periodically complaining to them that "there needs to me more Dollhouse!" So when I came to watch Firefly it was even worse 'cause there was even less 🙁 I think my friends might be sick of me now. 😛

Hehe, i made*cough* forced my mum to watch the pilot last night, she's going to continue with the show tonight hopefully. 🙂 And i see she has her eye on yummeh Mal already. lawlawl😉

I recently got someone into the show, and they completely fell in love with it. Especially 'Out of Gas' because they genuinely cared about Serenity and its crew. There's got to be something wrong with a person who can watch the entire series and not love it. It's immense.
