I hate Dawn even more

I'm with hannahfngrl26. Dawn annoyed the hell outta me the entire time she was on the show. She was either always whining or being completely... well, stupid. I always find myself telling the tv to shut up when she's talking. I never really got the point of her character at all. Yuck.

Karma for yelleing at the TV
There is nothing left for dawn to do after season 5, she should have ran away and live with the guilt that she killed her sister, who sacrificed herself for a mystical energy.

Sorry for any grammar or spelling, English is not my first language.

Yeah, Dawn does get kind of annoying. But I think it was completely reasonable for the writers to have left her in season 7.

Why? One of the biggest conflicts we see in season 7 is between Buffy, and herself. She struggles to be the leader, the fearless general, and eventually gets lost in her mission. She loses what makes her strong, her love for those around her (the Scooby Gang, etc), and their love for her back. Leaving Dawn in the story gave the writers a really logical angle to illustrate this from. They were able to use Dawn (and her incessant whiny-ness) to clearly show what Buffy was doing: distancing herself from that which she loves most.

So even if you don't like Dawn, I think her character was very important in this season!

I don't know why you people hate Dawn so much. Ok, i know - You think she's really annoying and she's always screaming, etc etc. I'm not saying I don't agree she was all that, because she was! And she could be really annoying specially in season 5. But why don't you try to put yourself in her position?? Her sister is the slayer, someone who saves the word. It's obvious she felt jelous or less important. I have a sister who is older than me (and i'm NOT saying i act like Dawn BECAUSE I DON'T) but sometimes i understand why she's acting like that. Everyone treated her like she was just a kid and that she couldn't undersatand anything BUT Buffy and her friends had her age when they were slaying vampires, killing demons, etc etc and i don't think they thought they were just kids or anything that time! And after she found out she was just a key and that her memories weren't real... Let's pretend you're her and suddently your whole life wasn't real! How do you think you'd react to that??

Ok, so what i'm trying to say here is that Dawn is not so bad as you're saying (in my opinion of course). Season 7 Dawn was not screamying or doing anything like that. Actually, she was helping everyone and nobody said anything to her like "good job", "well done" or anything (except Xander). So, I think you're being a little unfair to her!

Ok, feel free to disagree this is just my opinion. 😉

I agree with you. S7!Dawn is awesome, she's probably my favorite character in this season.
The biggest reason I never liked Dawn was because I am the oldest of three siblings and I could relate to having that annoying kid sister that wanted nothing more than to be with you all the time. (Which you of course never wanted) That aside I really just have a great general dislike for Michelle Trachtenberg (not sure I spelt that right) Not sure why, just always have 🙂

you spelled it right :)
Is it me, or is Michelle T. kinda hated by fans lately? Well, maybe not lately, but lately I noticed that, that people really don't like her (I'm one of them). Do you like Michelle?

Do you like Michelle?

Honestly, I haven't seen anything else with Michelle, so I can't really say. I do know, I like Dawn 😀 But I also like socks, and porkeypines(sp?) so it kinda shows my taste XP

BUT MY SPUFFY TASTE CAN NOT BE JUDGED! Cos it is gooood taste- delish

I actually really like Michelle... she was hilarious in Eurotrip, Black Christmas sucked but she was good in it, and more recently her guest stint on Gossip Girl was FABULOUS! It was a complete departure of the character of Dawn and IMO she pulled it off beautifully! And i even like Dawn as I've said, its a well crafted character, it was just her whinyness in S5-6, but its not her fault its how her character was written... Michelle has even stated during Buffy that she wished Dawn would grow up a little and stop whining.

I've seen Michelle in Gossip girl and she played it really well! It was a little weird, at first, because for me she "was still Dawn"... And the chracter was SO different from Dawn.. arrhh it was really confusing!

I also started respecting Dawn a bit more in Season 7. She really agitated me in Season 6, with the stealing, the lying, the whining, and the slight lack of a life. But in Season 7, it was more like she stepped up to the role. She may not be a slayer, or a potential, or a witch, but she still took what she does have and used it to her advantage.

I actually had no problem with dawn throughout season five and six, i kinda got it, hey you're only six months old, and your newly resurrected sister doesn't want to be around you. I get it. She had a lot of reason to be all whiny. I respected her a lot in season 7, and thought she became a very smart, strong young woman - and then she kicked Buffy out of the house. And all good thoughts of her were banished, now i just see her as a whiny, irritating, ungrateful, little runt, yes i said runt, not the word that sounds like it, so no complaints.

I never had any problems with Dawn. She was there to be exactly what she succeeded in being to many fans: a whiny, bratty little teenage girl. I got that, and I had a little sister who was about the same age difference as Buffy and Dawn, so I was able to take it for what it was. Dawn's character had flaws, just like ALL the characters on the show. Plus, the writers had to bring in someone else to get in trouble here and there 'cause all the other Scoobies had pretty much learned their lessons and it was going to get old if they didn't introduce a new character.
I thought Michelle Trachtenburg did an awesome job playing Dawn, and I liked the character, although I liked her the most in Season 7. I thought Season 7 showed how her character had grown and matured in 2 years, and it was nice to see her play a mature role in the Scooby Gang.

I am not through with S7 yet, but I like Dawn better than 5 and 6 so far. Problem with Dawn is the writing, sometimes they let her be a person, but too often she's just a prop to push the plot forward, and then she is beyond annoying.

They let her grow up when it suits them but other times just use her as a stereotypical annoying teen.

The shrieking...I'm pretty sure destroyed my speakers, I kid you not, it was that bad. We mute it now when we see it coming.

The one's she should be screeching at is the writers...who held her back time and time again when she could have become a great character earlier on.

Sure Dawn has her annoying sides but she has her good moments too and I like her more and more the more times I watch the show. And right now I don´t really have to express my Dawn love more than I do, do I? 😉

Loving the sig btw xxxx
The only time I really had a problem with Dawn was when she helped kick Buffy out of her own house in "Empty places". "This is my house, too". Yeah, right.

Yep, me too
I really really used to Hate Dawn , proper enraged me all the time blaming Buffy and whining . Yet the more times I watch buffy Dawn grows on me and I start to feel sorry for her , she does seem to get ignored but coddled by Joyce. Its really not her falut shes the way she is the monks made her that way .

I just love her now shes so sweet and cute , I suppose when shes all shouty and screamy and whiney I do want to slap her but just to say Grow up . Yet she does make me laugh so hard sometimes x

I can't prefer Dawn in any episode let alone season. She's whiney, annoying, and pointless. I don't like Michelle's "acting" either. The show wouldn't have missed anything without her appearance.

Okay I'm done character-bashing for the day.

I never was really a big Dawn fan. In the beginning of season 5 I couldn't stand her she was so obnoxious and annoying....but I suppose they were trying to portray her as a teenage girl. At the end of season 5 she grew on me a little...but only because of her and Buffy's relationship. Season 6 she was ok I guess....didn't have many feelings either way but by season 7 I think she had grown up a lot. Making her more part of the gang let me see a different side of her. Still have to say she was my least favorite character throughout.
