I have no friends.

Being older 🙁 and having my marriage ending a few years ago, I don't have any real friends anymore! They have all moved away or are in their own relationships. I have a few acquaintances, but no real close friends, my job is very anti social, so I don't get out much. Plus no one I know likes Buffy!

I am sure that will change. You are at a great age to meet friends. You are about the same age Willow and Buffy were when they met. Whatever you chose to do with your life, you'll meet new people. Are you in High School now? In a year, you'll probably be moving on to a new school. Maybe that is where you'll meet your Scooby gang.

I don't have friends... I don't want to start drama about it because that never ends well, but I am seriously depressed.

I have a few close friends, who outgrow their love for Buffy, so I spend a lot of my time here reading and discussing the show. 🙂

It's weird when you're young. I too felt like I had no friends. I did, but I had a habit of shutting people out (I still do to an extent). Now I feel genuinely blessed to know the people I do, that includes people on here. 🙂

I much prefer the friends I've made online to the people that are around me in real life. Not to say I don't know some good people, I just feel closer to those online, I guess as I talk more to them, and drop in and out of conversations easier online.

The great thing about online friends is that you can suddenly disappear without any explanations.

I agree that online friends are so much better than real life ones.

Real life friends had an annoying tendency to keep bothering me, wanting stuff or want to do stuff.
I usually just want to be by myself so I don't get dragged into all stupid ideas and things people insists on doing.

Online friends are so much easier and better.
They are most likely on a safe distance, no risk of having to come over to help or just be social, and I can communicate with them on my own terms. When I have the will and time.
(At least since I dropped being available on chat services like ICQ and MSN. That was just as annoying as real life friends...)

They refuse to believe that some of us are perfectly happy being alone. Some think they're HELPING by constantly pushing us to go somewhere, or dropping by to "do something."

I AM doing something. Go away.

Something odd...when I was in school I was a target. But after I dropped out and used an alternative schooling method then I became very popular with the local school kids (though I suppose it's worth pointing out that I was in another state, but I don't think that was it, but rather I was outside their normal hierarchy so they were a lot more free to deal with me in a friendly way, and could say and do things they didn't have to worry about spreading through the school).

It seems a lot of people have frenemies (friends who are really enemies) anyway. In some cases I understand in like the work place as you have to pretend you're one happy family (and never mind that family members often tend to be the meanest to each other whether they work together and help each other out or not), but some people seem genuinely unable to tell who their real friends are. After some of the horror stories I've heard of supposed friends, I know it can be worse than not really having anyone to share your life with (actually, that's true of romance and marriages, too, sometimes it's better to do without).
