I just realized!!! Spike/Cecily/Halfreck

I kinda figure her dad raped her or something and that's why she became a vengeance demon. I think Anya mentioned that Halfrek had daddy issues in the ep when Halfrek fulfilles Dawn's wish, and I think I remember Halfrek focusing on hurt childrens' wishes, but I could have made that up.
I think you're right, Halfrek did tend to cater to kids from what I remember...

From the Wikipedia page on Halfrek:
Halfrek's raison d'etre differed from Anya's. Whereas Anya was an avenger of scorned women, Halfrek's "thing" (as Anya put it) is to perform vengeance for children who have been wronged by their parents or guardians. Anya attributes this to "daddy issues".

We exploring this on the ep by ep rewatch, question is not whether or not Cecily is Halfrek, question is whether there ever was a Cecily? Was she actually Halfrek all along?

This previous post might answer your question

From the Buffy Wiki:
In the season 6 episode "Older and Far Away", Halfrek recognizes Spike and calls him by his human name, William. Spike also recognizes Halfrek, but when asked to explain this they both sheepishly deny being acquainted. This implies that Halfrek had previously been Cecily. However, Halfrek once told Anya that she witnessed the Crimean War (circa 1853).

So I guess Cecily was just a "character", a made up persona to work a job. Or maybe Halfrek just choose that name and wanted to live among humans for a while. Maybe Cecily was her human name and she wanted to use it among ordinary people.

Yeah, I noticed that a while back. 😀

I also believe that something happened with her parents, or else she would've had a different raison d'etre.

As for her behavior in FFL... I never really thought she acted like a bitca. There have been many characters on the show who have been ruder; "Cecily" was just stating her opinion. Also, technically he WAS beneath her, in the sense that she was a more high of a being than him.

I thought Cecily was a humongous bitca when I first watched that ep. I remember my jaw dropping and going "Oh, wow! Ouch!" and I felt so bad for William. But now knowing she was a vengeance demon it makes sense for her to say that 'cause he was a lower being to her, literally, and knowing that she killed the partygoers afterward makes her seem like she was doing him a favor...
