I Like Connor

I like Connor, he doesn't seem that bad, to me he seemed kind of cool, because he does defend himself at times in sorted of a cool way. Although, I don't like some his actions in season 4 when he doesn't know Jasmine is in Cordy's body and just sleeps with Cordy anyway, because I hate Cordy and Connor as a couple, they're as bad as Cordy and Groosalugg as a couple!

I like Connor. My friend thinks he's a hottie (no arguments here)

But the Connor/Cordy thing is creepy, not because she's older than him, but because she changed his diapers.

I had a somewhat amusing chat regarding this couple

Me: Yeah, it's really creepy
Friend: Right. She's way too old for him
Me: I think she's 22, in season 4
Friend: And how old is he? 15?
Me: No, because that would be Illegal. He's 18 when he's sleeping with cordy *cringe*
Friend: Well that's not so bad. They're only four years apart

Connor was ridiculous and was like the worst actor choice possible of the whole series. Like I am supposed to believe that this rat looking boy is Angel's son? No way! His storyline got tired a month after he got there and after that he became defunct and strange. I really hated Connor.

I liked Connor

I realy liked Connor. I think he was one of the best characters there was. He had some realy good storylines

eek i hated Connor so much, when i first ever watched Angel, the whole thing with Cordy and him was like eek.
His character just annoyed me, he couldn't accept anything, he was so stubborn. 😡

I was wondering: has anyone had their opinion of him changed by After the Fall?

Personally, I really came to love him, as well as the idea of his relationship with Gwen. But, I never hated him (was indifferent really) so I can't judge the full effect the comics might have on someone.

Whenever people talk about him like he never grew out of the brat-stage I always think, "Please keep up with canon" (I mean, even by season 5 he's matured a lot, and in the comics: wow).

One step further: Was anyone else "cured" for the Cordelia/Connor-ness by the comics? Seeing his reaction and that he finally realizes that she was his mother figure made me laugh out loud. Now, when I watch the end of Apocalypse Nowish it's so easy to remember that Cordelia is possessed and that he doesn't see her as a mom because my mind stays focused on him getting his full memories back in the future.

I never really cared for Connor. If I was going on a shooting spree, I wouldn't go out of my way to hit him, but I wouldn't go out of my way to miss either. I didn't like the Cordy relationship. He was a little too overdramatic throwing Angel in a submerged box.

I don't hate him but I don't love him either. When Connor first came on the show I was realy interested in his character and even adored him. After the whole cordy thing though and him never getting over his life got on my nerves. He was just to whiny and needed to get over it, plus sleeping with cordy turned my stomach. That was realy beyond icky. I don't hate him, I like his relation ship with Angel it can be funny and he's great in the fifth season to me. Realy I guess I do like Connor just not sleeping with Cordy and trying to kill Angel Connor, that one gets on my nerves.

I don't hate Connor either. But the Cordelia/Connor thing was gross. I'm not talking about their age, it was just... weird.

I really liked the character of Connor (though they did put him through a lot of crap) but that I've got to agree . the Connor/Cordy thing was just wrong and a bit off-putting

otherwise I thought his whole story was horribly tragic and heart-wrenching

I don't hate him. I think he's ok and what he did was understandable.

And in Origin and Not Fade Away, I'm in love with him. 😛

I hated Connor, could hardly stand him at any point, even before Cordonner. He was always just so whiny, yea he went through alot of crap but at some point he should have sucked it up and stopped being a brat. I didn't like Dawn either, but at least in S7 i didn't hate her, she became tolerable. Connor also became tolerable, but only after he was mindwiped. I was also a fan of Cangel, and he messed that up as well.

I didn't even hate Connor even when I first saw him as and a baby and a teenager. I actually liked him and thought he was hot when he was older, and I didn't even know he was one of the most hated characters on buffyverse. But I really hate the Cordy/Connor thing with a passion.

Yupp, love Connor (as you can see by my side panel profile). He's not a regular teenage boy, by any means. By the end of Season Four, he's a deranged and unstable person. He hits rock bottom. I think his journey/story is completely tragic, and it's interesting to see his development in Season Five.

Of course I despise the Connor/Cordelia "relationship," but it's not really Cordy; it's Jasmine, setting things in motion in order to bring herself to life (by taking advantage of Connor's feelings for Cordelia). And why wouldn't he want to be with "Cordy?" He has no memory of the maternal role she played in Season Three, he's attracted to her, and has never felt a sense of real love or family. So when it seems that his feelings are mutual, he grabs onto the opportunity. He was also attracted to Faith, Gwen and Illyria. Would he hesitate to make a move if they allowed it? I believe that Connor becomes more unstable as Season Four progresses, which is why he grasps at the connection with "Cordelia."

Perhaps it's because I think Vincent Kartheiser is a wonderful actor.

..Or maybe it's because I think he's really good-looking. :tongue3:

Granted, I haven't seen season 5, just finished season 4, so I don't know if he will be involved anymore, but I have a feeling he is. 🙂 In either case, I really, really like Connor. He's just a teenage boy who've had a really hard time. I think his story and the way Vincent plays him is just beautiful and tragic and heartbreaking. How could you NOT like him? 🙂

riiiight! :) Love that's how you see it too
There was a thread about another character that I discussed in a couple of days ago that I thought was really interesting. In this thread a person said that this characters pain was insignificant to the other characters and that he didn’t change fast enough, therefore this person didn’t forgive/liked him. One of the argument the person gave for this was that as I understood it that the character was just a fictional one and therefore you could judge him in a way you couldn’t judge a real person. I don’t agree with this argument at all, and think it’s the reason I like Connor so much. One of the reasons I really like Joss’ shows is because I always felt that the characters were very real (well, maybe not Jasmine 🙂) and they didn’t always act the way tv characters are supposed to act (rational/”taking the high road”): they where more like real humans (acting driven by there emotions/hearts), and I’ve always loved that. For example: Willow, going bad after Taras death, Spike being really unhappily in love with Buffy but still not letting go, or Buffy making really bad relationship decisions. Connor had a really hard life, and I don’t blame him for going over the edge. Any person would, and I don't think it's fair if we would judge him compared to the other charcaters who may have delt with their pain "better". Everybody's different. It was the most heartbreaking thing when you found out that he had known how Jasmine had looked like all along, but so desperately wanting to be part of something that he didn’t care. I’m with Darla on this one: I can see the confusion and hatred in Connor, but mostly I just see the godness in his heart and what he wished he could be. How could I not love him then? 🙂

Now if only B could have said it like that, i'd have accepted Connor isn't a bad character ;P
I haven't seen Connor in Angel season 5 yet during my rewatch so my feelings my change but overall he was never someone i found myself liking.

People in this thread have stated that he shouldn't be hated for the bad decisions he made because of the life his had and that is a fair point.

On the other hand though while i understand his behaviour that doesn't mean i like him. He is a character who has done nothing to make me actually like him. His actions may be understandable but that doesn't get away from what were his actual actions.

Locking Angel away in the Ocean didn't make me like the character. Ok it made sense because of him believing Angel killed Holtz but knowing what i knew it still made me not like the character.

His involvement with Cordelia again was understandable but how could you like that relationship. Him being with her created what could be described as the worst couple in the Buffyverse, what's to like about that?

There was just something really wrong in the way it was shown on screen... I mean the relationship of Cordy and Connor. Part because Connor acted like he was taking 'something' from Angel, part because(before we knew it was Jasmine) Cordy acted very uncharacteristically through the whole thing. Even with neutral glasses, that just looked wrong.

Connor and Cordelia/Jasmine had no chemistry on screen whatsoever hence why i think you'd be hard pressed to find a worse ship then that in either Buffy or Angel's history.

Agreed. They are the worst couple I've ever seen on buffyverse.
