The rise of digital news could threaten one unusual fetish.

As print newspapers continue their decline and publishers switch to digital-only, one incredibly niche fetish looks to be at risk.

There are thriving online communities of men and women who admit to being turned on by the smell, feel and sight of newspapers, with many fantasising about being wrapped head-to-toe in the stuff.

It appears to stem from early encounters with topless photographs in tabloid newspapers, but those with a fully developed newspaper fetish are turned on by the medium no matter how dry the publication.

I'd love for a lot more funding to be given to people who study this stuff. I understand that it's awkward to a lot of people, and too many people have hang ups (and would raise a fuss over such research), but stuff like this just teases me so much with curiosity on the why and how our brains get sexually imprinted and wired.

There's always free papers or local papers. Does it have to be national newspapers? Is there a sub-community who can only get sexually aroused to the sports papers or the houses for sale papers?
