I told someone (who will remain unnamed) who lists his favorite character as Connor that I'd give Connor another chance this time thru Angel. My first watchthru, I (like many others) was not a Connor fan.

We just started season 3 of Angel where we discover Darla is pregnant, so here begins his second chance. Dangel and their lustchild, here's to you.

HAHAHA Yes a very adorable baby he made. 🙂

I for one liked him the 2nd time around. Knowing how unloved he felt and how confused he really was made me accept his rebellious teen angst better.

2 episodes into season 3: My initial opinion (trying to eliminate preconceived notions from previous watchthrus) is that he makes his mama hot as a pregnant chick. ;D So far a '+' for the unborn hellion. XD

Oh yeah, and I do like that Joss dared to go where most people think would be a bad idea: two undead create one living. ...so I guess + there too.

Teenage Connor isn't the nicest character and he make lots of bad decisions and as long as you just watch it like that it'll be very difficult to love him. But put yourself in his place, imagine what he's been going through, all the lies he's been told about Angel. We as viewers has seen Angel in a totally different light. Of course we think Connor should trust him. Now imagine a show based on Connor. Having seen his life starting in the hell dimension. And then all of a sudden we see him meeting Angel. Still lot of mistakes on Connors part but in my mind a lot more easy to understand. Just think about what "normal" teenagers go through with all hormones and stuff and how they often feel about their parents. Then add growing up in a hell dimension and being told more or less nothing but lies. No wonder the guy is messed up.

I don't love Connor but I think he gets way more hate than he deserves.

I'm pretty much just repeating what Wash said above now because I agree with him except for the fact that I am one of the few who absolutely loves Connor all the way through the series (and thank you Angel: After the fall for more Connor)
And I have sympathy for him because he is so totally screwed over all the time. I mean, no wonder the boy has trust issues. He can't trust anyone because they're all lying to him, messing with him and pushing him around. Not to mention the whole grew up in a helldimension with a man who brainwashed him to hate his own father...
If anyone deserves some slack it's Connor.

I guess no matter which theory you support (nurture vs nature), Connor is screwed in both regards. 😛

I support a mix of both. ;) But it still fits.

Okay I'm totally going to agree with you. I actually LOVE Connor's character, and, though annoying at times during his teenage stage, he never really bothered me as he did others because I understood what you made sure to put across: Angel through his eyes is the EXACT opposite of the Angel we as viewers know and love. And though Connor knows that, though he's angry and wants vengeance for the death of Holtz, at the same time, he's trying to come to grips with the fact that Angel, this evil demon he's come to hate, is really his biological father. Despite Connor's words, and many of his actions (dropping Angel off in the ocean for starters), I still saw many actions that support the idea that Connor actually did feel that connection to Angel. The sparring scene in the alley at the end of Benediction is a great example of this. I KNOW there are more examples in season 4, but I'm still waiting to acquire that season, and thus haven't seen those episodes in quite a long time.

My first couple watches, I hate Connor. I thought he was rude and obnoxious and really ungrateful in general. I just did my third full re-watch of Angel and noticed he's really not. Like others have said above me, he's just confused. When he comes back out of the hell dimension the only father he's ever known was Holtz. And while I think he should have known Angel didn't kill Hotlz by the fact his blood wasn't drained, I get why he jumped to conclusions. I even get why he dumped Angel in the ocean. If you watch the show thinking about what's happening through his eyes, you'll end up feeling really bad for the guy. I found this watch, I just wanted to hug him. I went form "teenage Connor is the worst" to "teenage Connor is OK" to "I FREAKING LOVE TEENAGE CONNOR!!!" And now I rank him as one of my favorite Angel characters.

Couldn't rep, so I'll say this: THIS.
As in, really. Angel, you're a douche.
