I miss Firefly... it was better than Dollhouse

Dollhouse has been okay, but every time I watch an episode, I can't help but think how much I'd prefer to see the story of Firefly continued on television instead.

So I'm five episodes in to Dollhouse, and I feel like I had more of a connection with the characters of Firefly even a half-hour into the pilot episode (the real pilot, not the one the idiots at FOX aired first). I feel like any of the characters on Dollhouse could die and I wouldn't even care or notice all that much. With Firefly on the otherhand, I really wanted Kaylee to live and cared about her character just in the first episode the first time I watched it. I can't even remember the woman's name who heads up the Dollhouse after five freakin' episodes! And none of the characters could ever come close to matching the brilliance of Mal, Jayne, Wash, Inara, Book, etc. etc. Okay, this was just a little rant that was brought on by watching the newest Dollhouse and an old Firefly episode the same day.

FOR REAL. Dollhouse kinda sucks, but Firefly definitely could have been as good as Buffy.

I agree with you on a level, Revolver. Dollhouse, sadly, has not captured my imagination like I'd hoped. I'll continue watching it out of default habit, but yeah in my eyes, nothing will ever be as good as Buffy. (Firefly comes close, though 😉

Buffy was my favorite of the bunch, as well, BUT I think Firefly could easily have become my favorite had it been allowed more than 14 episodes. I think it was by the far the best initial batch of episodes of any Joss show (Buffy and Angel both took a little while to hit their stride, and only time will tell if Dollhouse ever truly does). Rewatching this show even for the millionth time (that's probably an exaggeration) always just makes me see how much potential it had to grow and get even better. I thought Dollhouse had a concept with a lot of potential but I just don't see it having the potential to be anywhere near the other three shows Joss has done.

agreed. Firefly had sooo much potential.
Yeah, Firefly worked from episode one on a way that Dollhouse hasn't.
You immediately fell in love in every character (especially Kaylee lol) and you couldn't wait to see what happend next.

I also have a feeling that Firefly would be my all time favorite show if it just had been allowed to continue.
Now I don't watch it much since I only get annoyed over it ending when I do.

It also made me watch Buffy. I remember thinking, wow this was great, perhaps that Buffy thing I heard so much about isn't all bad after all 🙂
Will be forever thankful to whoever it was that started a thread about Firefly on another board that I read a lot.

Dollhouse isn't bad though, I really enjoy it and looking forward to the next episode.
But so far it is just one of many good shows.

I wish there'd been more of Firefly. Dollhouse is okay, sure, but I haven't really gotten into it like I did with Firefly, like you said. Firefly was amazing, I miss it so.

Yeah I agree. I would have loved for Firefly to continue. And I think it had the potential to be my favorite of the Jossverse too. Dollhouse is not capturing my imagination as Firefly did. I bet now they're kicking themselves for cancelling it.

I'm certainly kicking them for cancelling it.
I miss Firefly too. There should be a 12 step program to help us poor, poor, people.

I've not watched ANY Dollhouse at all, it just doesn't seem anywhere near as good as Firefly (or Buffy and Angel), I should give it a chance, though. I'm just gutted that we only got one season of Firefly, and then Serenity.. just not enough.

I really can't get into Dollhouse. I loved Firefly and just finished watching Angel and loved it. I'm starting Buffy for the first time and am loving it thus far too.

Firefly is one of the shows that depresses me to watch it as much as I love it because it seems like so much wasted potential in it. It won the "Show we'd bring back" award on hulu.com too.
