The curser keep disapearing over where I want to write (before and after) it makes writing stuff very hard. For instance I could not get a curser to appear over what I've just written. Has anyone got any suggestion.
If these computers were still made of metal, not the cheapskate plastic that it is a boat anchor would be a valid answer!

I'm assuming that you are using Windows...you could try ctrl/alt/del to see if a soft reboot works, otherwise the usual IT advice applies...try turning it off and then on again for a hard reboot. If this fails a quick Google suggests checking how your mouse/pointer is configured in Settings or making sure that your drivers are up-to-date. That runs up against the limit of my somewhat out-of-date Windows knowledge as I've spent too long using Macs.

DarkLordsHaunt, why do you want to know what my operating system is, the whole computer is affected though not The Age of Empires. I had a friend try to fix it, that made matters worse. A place called PC Doctor said they would come and do work on my computer but didn't show up, be grateful you cannot hear my rants to this computer, I am sure I have made up a few new swear words.

She was trying to help you.
Because all operating systems work differently and if we know which one you're using we might know exactly how to tell you to fix the problem. 😐

And I do thank you however the whole computer shows the problem except Age of Empires. The computer is Microsoft Window 11 (I think) with Google being the browser.
Is your daughter dropping by any time soon? She might be the best one to help.

It's gonna be pretty hard to help diagnose the problem without being in the room with the computer to look at the settings and try different things. :/

I asked ChatGPT and this is what it said:
  • The text cursor (caret) is blinking or disappearing
    • Try restarting the application they're typing in.
    • Check if the cursor thickness is set too small:
      • Windows: Settings → Accessibility → Text Cursor → Increase the text cursor thickness.
    • Update graphics drivers if the issue happens across multiple programs.
  • The insertion point jumps or vanishes while typing
    • This can happen if the touchpad is accidentally being touched while typing on a laptop.
    • Disable "tap to click" temporarily or enable "ignore touchpad while typing."
  • The cursor disappears only in a web browser
    • Try another browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox).
    • Disable browser extensions one at a time to see if one is causing the issue.
    • Clear the browser cache.
  • The cursor is becoming hidden because of display scaling or graphics glitches
    • Restart the computer.
    • Try changing the display scaling to 100% or 125%.
    • Check for Windows updates.

My daughters husband fixed the disappearing pointer (cursor), unfortunately the movement of the pointer is very slow. (1/10th speed.)
Well, that was odd.
The power just turned off for a couple of minutes . . . when it came back on I found the computer worked as it used to. Odd as when I turned it off then turned it back on (at the mains) nothing happened.

My thanks to everyone who tried to help me, guess this means I can inflict my stories In The Watcher Diaries Again.

Fixing method #1.

Ah yes @BuffyElevated,
I am planning to get a new computer, I just need to save up the money first.
Has anyone (everyone) noticed about that " fixing method " sent in by NotASlayer, about how the thick as a brick guy tried to do 'running repairs' to his old monitor / break the desk his computer screen was on,
also did anyone notice the woman in the background has a flat screen monitor, unlike him?

You're not thick, just complicated 😋
@Kendar,
what reference was that, was it the reference that you were not referring to?
or could it have anything to do with the Paranoia by Hawkwind or the Paranoid by Black Sabbath, odd references not withstanding?

PS this post should not be read by Anyanka Bunny Slayer as some of my comments do cause her not to understand me or what I meant. . . . . . . , maybe I should have said that first, hmm.

Yet on the bright side I wouldn't understand it even if I was told about it, do you know what country the info came from?
I accidentally managed to fix the sounds from the computer, don't ask me how though.
The computer is working quite well now, I'll need to concentrate on myself a bit more now.
