So I'm feeling like I have no good shows to watch, so I'm looking to you guys to help me out!

I currently watch the following:

Doctor Who
Torchwood
Primeval
Fringe
Smallville
Supernatural
True Blood

What Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Horror shows are YOU watching? Any good recommendations for me to add to my current watch list?

Edmund Blackadder I'm looking in your direction...

Yay - I got a name check:p
Have you been watching The Sarah-Jane Adventures? It's a spin-off from Doctor Who, with Sarah-Jane Smith. It's aimed more at the kiddies, but it's an enjoyable programme and there have been some really great episodes in this second season.

The BBC's Merlin is good too - telling the story of an adolescent Merlin and King Arthur and mixing up all the Arthurian legends at the same time. And hey, it has Tony Head in.

See I watched both of those thinking they would be good and well sorely disappointed. Tony Head is good in Merlin though.

Does it have to be Sci Fi or are you open to some dramas?

Knowing you I think you may like Merlin but won't like Sarah Jane - too kiddified.

Hex but the am guessing got cancelled , I hated point pleasant. The Xfiles is one of my faves, Even if not a show to watch why not watch Dune its amazing. Star Trek The Next Generation is the best out of the star treks in my mind.

I also used to watch stargate but it got boring. I love Battlestar Galactica .

Oh if you want some giggles at bad acting and a really bad show take a glimse of this rubbish

naaaah, Voyager is way better. Not that I don't enjoy TNG, but Voyager....7of9, the holographic doctor, the torres/paris romance...how can you not love it?

LT: You're correct...Hex did get cancelled after season 2
are you looking for currently run series or are you open to ones that have been cancled?

if so i enjoyed tru calling thought it was pretty good don't know if it would be classed as sci-fi or fantasy world but is it deffinately along those lines, it got cancled so the end of season two is a bit of a shocker that personally lefr me wanting answerss which now i will never get, but i still say its worth the watch plus it has eliza in so buffy love lolz

and x files is good i just ordered the complete series of that today

I don't know how you feel about Star Trek, but I personally enjoy Star trek Voyager a lot 🙂

Uhm yes, and that is pretty much the only sci-fi I have watched in years. I also used to watch Stargate, which is also nice, but only with the original team, all those new people...ugh.

And then there's of course the all time classic the x-files.

I don't know if you've seen any of those, or if you already have basic opinions about them, but those are the ones I would watch if I had time to kill.

Ya know, a lot of people don't give "Ghost Whisperer" a whole lotta love, and that's a shame because it's really a good show. :: tu ::

At least check out a few episodes before they decide to cancel it. 😛

Not too much Sci-Fi on over here at the moment, but there is a nice little spooky-type thing on the BBC called Apparitions that looks okay!
You could try Survivors (also on the Beeb), but it is a little slow.
May be best to wait for the Doctor Who Christmas special, quality not quantity 🙂
I'm watching Sarah Connors right now, quite like that.

Have you ever watched Twin Peaks, Buffy? I wouldn't classify it as "sci-fi" but it has elements of sci-fi, fantasy AND horror...

Yeah! Two episodes in, I realized where X-Files stole its vibe from.

An absolute classic, unbeatable for atmosphere.
I have friends that speak very highly of babylon 5....its old I think.

They keep telling me to get the DVD's and say that it is so layered and depthy. To tell you the truth that kinda scares me. it might be right up your alley though, or not. Maybe you've allready watched them all or watched one and hated it, i dunno.

Just thought I'd pass along some friends glowing opinions. (everyone let me know what you think if you've seen it.)

Well, I'd skip the first season, except that it does contain somewhat useful information, so... ;) Just go through it quickly. :D

Babylon 5 was the best Sci-Fi series ever, and before BTVS, the best Fantasy series of all time. It had it's faults, but all in all it was the TV equivilant of the LOTR.

And yes it's old: Circa 1993-1997

I second that. Babylon 5 is just brilliant!

You guys are making the sell....I'll try it out in all that free time I hear is out there somewhere :)
Babylon 5 is amazing. Great characters, great character development, and an awesome plot. It lasted 5 seasons, and it was written to last 5 seasons, so you have closure at the end. It ends how they intended it to end, and were leading up for it to end since the beginning. Also, there are folks from Whedon shows who appear in guest roles on B5. 😉

Please, though, don't base the show on the first season. I really don't like it (I hate Commander Sinclair). However, it gets WAY better in S2. Much better, very fast.

thanks for the warning. I'll be sure to get 1 & 2 at the same time. I imagine I do need to sit through 1 to appreciate the rest because of lore, detail that sort of thing?
Aww I wish I could help you but TV for Horror/Sci-Fi isn't at its best at the moment.

Have you seen Dead Set?
That was an interesting Horror in 5 parts. Its more a miniseries than full on show but might help towards satiating your appetite.

Survivors just takes too long to be honest. I got bored of that. The only reason I watched was to see if Paterson Joseph could be a good Doctor, as he is the one currently tipped. Comedy wise he would be great but I just can't see him doing the drama.

Merlin isn't too bad. Its not fantastic but it is on par with Robin Hood - sadly no Richard Armitage type characters, they are either really young or really old (Wilson) UNLESS you don't mind Head.

SJA is quite good too, I actually love it BUT it is aimed at the kids. Having said that so was Doctor Who and I think SJA is closer to the show than Torchwood ever will be.

Coming soon is a TV show called Demons that could be interesting as it has Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes star Philip Glenister in as well as Gareth from the Office as the villain.

If I can see anything else I will give you a heads up, I think I am doing quite well with my recommendations to you so far.

Ohhh, comedy wise, The IT Crowd is back and hilarious.
