I never believed Willow was gay

I was going to post in the other thread, but it was closed.

So here are my thoughts... I don't believe Willow was gay.

The love between Tara and Willow was so beautiful, so real, and took so long to come to fruition. We all saw it happen, and it was done perfectly by the writers and cast. They chose the absolutely perfect time for their first kiss, and it was a kiss that brought me to tears (as did everyone's performance in "The Body.") I didn't see them as lesbians, I saw them as two people in love. Tara and Willow worked wonderfully.

So when Kennedy happened, I didn't buy it for a minute. Sure she's hot, but she just doesn't seem like Willow's type. They didn't take the time to develop it, and I didn't like that story line at all.

So, I really don't see Willow as "gay." I see Willows next real love (and maybe it's happened in the Season 8---I've never read it) as a wonderful person, male or female.

Any thoughts?

I think most people on this board, including myself will agree with you 100%. You said it perfectly and it's true that Tara and Willow had a beautiful love and so did Oz and Willow. Willow's next relationship could be with a guy or a girl and I don't think I'd mind.

Joss also made a quote about how he didn't want to change Willow back to straight as it'd be a disservice to the fan, and I call BS on this for the reason that Willow was never gay in the first place, nor do I believe she was straight. She was something so beautiful that she could love either gender. I think the main problem with Joss and the writers was that they were trying to push the idea that she was gay on us when she really wasn't.

What she and Tara had was beautiful, but so was what she and Oz had. I don't want to think either of those two was an experimental phase, and I don't want to belive Willow can't fell in love with a man again.

I belive she's bi.

I think there are more people that believe the earth is flat than there are people that think Kennedy and Willow fit together.

Whether Willow is bisexual or gay however is quite the point of contention.

Also, if Joss gave us the relationship with Kennedy to 'compensate' for Tara's death, he failed horribly. Not (just) because their relationship sucked, but because it's a bad idea in principle that stunts creativity.

I believe Willow is gay. Whether she loves Kennedy or not is a different story. But the character herself sees herself as gay. I personally think labels are stupid but if Willow thinks of herself is gay then that's what matters. She see's herself as gay and is attracted to women. So I believe Willow is gay. If she falls in love with a man later on so be it.

but I never understood Killow at all, I think that it was too soon, and I dislike Kennedy a lot so Willow looks kinda foolish for being with her IMO..

Willow is gay. I never understood the speculation on this. Willow makes it clear she is gay and so do the writers. They make a point of it in the "Him" episode that even under a spell which would force her to be in love with a guy, she STILL needs him to be a woman.
It also lead to one of my favorite lines in the episode lol

"He has a penis!"
"So, I can work around it!".

Maybe I'm oversimplifying the issue, but I never saw Willow and Tara being together as a gay vs straight issue. What I saw was two basically lonely people who shared some common interests falling in love. Oh, yeah, and they were both women.

Willow herself said, "It wasn't women. It was one woman. Tara." That pretty much sums up what I saw and believed. Tara could have ben Tom, or Steve, and if the two PEOPLE had connected in the same way, the same love would have been there just the same.

That's primarily why I could never see anything between Willow and Kennedy. They didn't have very much, if anything, in common, and they just didn't CONNECT the way that either Willow and Tara or Willow Oz did.

The fact that Willow herself stated it multiple times is quite enough for me to believe it. 😛 Now, if she somehow got back with a guy, I wouldn't be THAT surprised. She could be bi.

Well, Willow herself identified as a lesbian, so that's good enough for me. Whether or not she's actually bi or pan doesn't matter a whole lot to me, cause for the time being it seems she's only looking for relationships with women (S8 spoiler)

Didn't Willow want to get with that kid in that episode where she was put under a spell that she was under? It wasn't till someone pointed out that she was gay that it even came up.

I read a LONG, LONG, LONG ago thread (I think I have it still saved) where one point Joss said that Willow was pretty much bisexual but it wasn't till Tara died that she became gay because they didn't want to piss off the lesbian fans further. Only, that totally blew up in their faces anyways.

I think you can identify with one identity at one point in your life and it change suddenly at another point and then go back to the original. I think at the moment Willow said she was gay, it was because she was only attracted to Tara and no one else. When Willow was straight, she was only attracted to Oz and/or Xander and no one else.

Also, if someone brings up Vampire Willow to illustrate Willow's lesbianism, I do wish then that they'd keep in mind that Vamp Willow was bisexual, so then explain why it wouldn't mean that Willow was bisexual. As it would be taking only one facet of Vamp Willow's sexuality and try to make it into something it wasn't.

She fell in love with one woman, but that doesn't mean she's not sexually attracted to women in general.

I'm sorry but I can't help but be a tad offended by this. Just because she realized she was gay 'cause she fell in love with one woman doesn't mean she's not gay. I figured out I was gay when I fell in love with one woman. Does that mean I'm not gay? I kind of get annoyed that the the one main character that was gay's sexuality gets questioned like this. She says several times she's gay, everyone involved in the show says she's gay, yet people still question? Why is it so hard to believe?

Maybe people like Woz a lot? 😛 I don't know. Personally, it's really clear to me just how powerful her relationship with Tara was, and Willow herself identifies as a lesbian. Maybe she can fall in love with another gender or maybe not, but ultimately, I think her self-identity is the most important to consider.

I question it only because Joss said she was "pretty much bisexual" in one article, and that the writers had planned to put Willow with a man after Tara's death. Only because of the negative backlash and calls of the writers being homophobic did they decide "Okay, okay, Willow is definitely gay now" and put her with Kennedy.

If that had never been said, that the writers saw Willow as bisexual, then I wouldn't even question it. But because of the way they were going until season 7/Tara's death, it just let's me ponder a little.

I wouldn't hold that particular moment as an argument against Willow being gay. That was a spell to attract women in particular, no matter how uninterested they would normally be.

Willow has been in love with two females and two males - Tara, Kennedy, Oz and even Xander at one time. She has been sexually attracted and satisfied by all of them (in Xander's case, with a kiss). The only thing I can come from this is that she is bisexual.
