"I Only Have Eyes For You" hype

No because she was all like its all his fault and sayin he should stay in hell, and she did blame herself for it too, but she saw James as the enemy until the end when she understood that James was more like her than she thought.

Hey! i just saw this episode on the other day. i have seen it a few times and i really like it. i really don't know why... but it catches my attention. i think i'd have to rate it on my fav. top ten. i agree w/ most of the ppl that posted on here before w/ saying that the theme of forgivness was played out so wonderfully. i mean, when i saw buffy and angel kiss, i think i stoped breathing for a second and just sat there taking in what was happening. overall, i like it... i could sit and watch it over and over.
:jumping40

I really liked it... I was a little thrown off at the end when Angel and Buffy went back to themselves after the kiss... I figured he would try to kill her or something... But the way he just stormed off... It gave me a new insight to Angelus... That maybe he still felt for Buffy... He freaked about the "Love" that possessed him, but I think he was more scared about how HE felt... BRAVO!!!

I also love the way it worked out that Angel could get back up after bein shot and it was really well thought out and written! and i think its funny when they are speaking as James and Grace and Angel is acting like a woman, when he runs off he lets out a little scream and its so funny! Also i love the end where Spike stands up .Also Angel takes his top of 😀 100% FIT :jumping40 :jawdrop:

I have never liked this episode.

And I don't think it's because of my lack of Buffy/Angel ship. I guess that it is just really not that good.

I understand all the points that everybody is making, but it's not changing my opinion. I guess everyone has a thorn in their side about one episode from the series, and this is mine.

When you saw Buffy and Angel kiss then Buffy said, "Angel?" what did you think Angel would do? I was holding my breath with hope, I thought maybe that would some how make Angel himself again but then he shoved her away. So sad.

i guesed that was gonna make him back to his bad ass self, but i thought they would fight or maybe share a moment or summat. i love the end where the camera is spinning and they turn from Buffy & Angel to James and Grace it's so sweet when she forgives him, it always makes me wann :sad24:

Sarah's acting in the ep is flawless. She was amazing!! David as well. I loved the whole backstory & setup of that episode & how the tragedy worked out in the end with Angel being a vampire & not dying from being shot. First Buffy's walking into the school & the next thing she knows she's kissing Angel again before he realises what's going on & runs away. That was a really good story.

I personally found this episode rather cute...it wasn't my favourite but I really did like it...it was really cute. How Angel and Buffy turned out playing the role of the ghosts and everything, it was cool.

I found it a good episode. It isn't my favourite though...but it is in my top 5 episodes of season 2.

For me, I loved this episode for a mix of reasons.

One, as mentioned before, I think Sarah and David both did an amazing acting job in this episode. They did a good way of really conveying the characters' emotions as well as fitting into new roles well (especially roles of the opposite sex, and since they actually did have James/Grace played, I think they matched them pretty well).

The theme of forgiveness was also very great throughout this episode, and I think the writers did an excellent job with it. The way they paralelled James/Grace's story to that of Buffy and Angel was great. It forced the characters to deal with what had happened (literally) and the line "To forgive is an act of compassion, Buffy. It's, it's not done because people deserve it. It's done because they need it." really is true in this world. Also, when Buffy said "I still... A part of me just doesn't understand why she would forgive him.", it showed that even though she had been through the whole experience, she hadn't forgiven herself for what had happened with Angel. Which really was her "flaw" or "weakness" of this season. It was not only that Angel had turned evil, it was that she blamed herself for it.

Also, since I found Angel's eventual "forgiveness" of Buffy in season 3 wasn't ever directly adressed (or Buffy's of Angel), this was an important episode to do (since it kind of helped us understand how Buffy and Angel reacted to each other in season 3, and how neither seemed to have a burning hate for each other.)

It also really showed huge character development for Giles, Buffy, and Angel. Giles, because of how strongly he initially believed it was Jenny; and how in the end he was forced to accept it wasn't and more/less move on (or at least deal) with the fact that Jenny was dead. It was kind of like the whole situation of him researching and trying and trying to prove it was her was a way he was dealing, and I found it astonishing how quickly he realised it wasn't her.

With Buffy, it was the whole journey of being in James' shoes, and being shown that forgiveness is a possibility. It was almost like she was living through her own life really, as if it could have been her and Angel themselves at the high school. It may not have changed her mind about her own forgiveness in the end, but it did force her to see another side to the story. She was such a huge part of the closure that Grace and James got, that she would have had a lot to think about. And despite her disbelief on their ending, it would have forced her to reconcider her own situation, even slightly. And at least partially deal with her own guilt in the process.

Angelus, as mentioned above, seemed to have to deal with his own feelings towards Buffy. It was like this cocky, cool, emotionless bravado he had in place up until this point fell the second that he realised that he'd kissed Buffy. When he returned to the mansion he seemed almost distraught by it, uncomfortable, irritable, as though just as (if not more) angry (or frightened) by the feelings the experience awoke within him than the situation itself. He seemed to be almost possessed with the notion to get rid of any trace of "love", and was itching to go out for a bruital kill to do it. There was also only one episode between this point and when he decided to suck the whole entire world into hell, it seems too coincidental to me to NOT concider that this experience could have had something to do with that.

And of course, there were bangel smootchies, always a good thing 😉

I also really liked the story of James/Grace, and how it was written (with James immediatly being drawn to Buffy, and how he kept everyone who wasn't Buffy or Angel far away).

Anyway, that's my take on it at least. In my opinion, it was a beautiful and extremely well done episode.

A tragic tale. It's kind of a 'Flying Dutchman'-ish scenario, except that it sucks in two new people with each cycle.

I've come to think of this and I decided to give a more appropriate answer to your question.

I personally liked this episode because I think Bangel is a pretty cool couple, though I really like Spuffy.

For Bangel fans, this was a Bangel lovers dream (same with Amends). The reason for this is because, since Surprise and Innocence, Angel was turned into Angelus...they were broken up.

In I Only Have Eyes For You, it gave Bangel a chance to rekindle...for a while, anyways. That's part of what makes the episode so great.

I loved this ep. I remember I watched it once to see what is was and I thought it was ok but I didn't watch it again until about a week ago when I forgot what it was and put it in the dvd player just to check it out and it has since become one of my fave eps.

OK, well three days ago, i had some fond memories of this episode.....i watched it again yesterday, wow.
Can i pose a question?
Ok, i meant a different one to the 'can i pose a question!!
What IS the big deal about this episode?
In its time, it was a great episode me thinks, but with so much water under that bridge that the power of it is lost......and Buffy does whine an awful lot.

Though Angel is funny😉

There is no gimmick to it. It's not about a musical episode, or a silent episode, or a dream episode.

It's a simple stand alone story that comments on the Bangel thing without actually becomming it.

The forgiveness thing is awesome.

I think it's my favourite epsiode.

I agree. I think it was about Buffy being able to forgive Angel. And realise it wasn't her fault that he went bad.

i liked this episode i thought it was quite good and you get to see how Buffy really feels and you get to see her deal with her emotions, and not bottle them up which is never good to keep things inside. this wasnt one of my favourite episodes in this season but i thought it was alrite.

I agree this episode was pretty powerful..because we can all relate to it..I have had someone I really cared about hurt me over and over..and I guessit was because I felt that I deserved it..and I had blamed myself for letting that person treat me like that...so that episode hit home..I honestly do forgive that person for what they did..not because they deserve..but because it is needed.

Plus the guy in the episode was pretty cute.
