Hello fellow Buffy fans!

My name is Audrey, commonly nicknamed Oddrey by my friends. Immediately after signing up for BB, I regretted not choosing "Aud" as my username. It would've been perfect. Oh well.

BTVS and ATS originally aired on the WB and UPN roughly around my tween years, which is when I became a fan. I had forgotten why Buffy was one of my all-time favorite female protagonists, but thanks to Netflix, my fandom has been renewed. As a child of the '90s, the late '90s and early '00s are basically my favorite period for pop culture knowledge. I really enjoy finding others who also like 90s things and like discussing them, too.

Won't say anything here about my favorites/least favorites, since these tend to change depending on the season, the context, etc. Mostly, I'm interested in discussing some of the difficult moral, ethical, and philosophical issues that arose throughout the two series. And also to have fun. Obviously.

Finally, I would just like to caution all of you that brevity, unfortunately, is not my forte, so you can expect to read dissertation-like posts from me from time to time. Hopefully my posts will at least be more interesting than, say, "Inca Mummy Girl."

Won't say anything here about my favorites/least favorites, since these tend to change depending on the season, the context, etc. Mostly, I'm interested in discussing some of the difficult moral, ethical, and philosophical issues that arose throughout the two series. And also to have fun. Obviously.

Right there with you. I rather dissect the various issues and complexities of the verse than involve myself in shipper wars for example. Mainly because I don't care about romances in fiction. My sister however is a hardcore shipper which makes for some fun rewatches, especially with these two shows.

As for my favorites, I'm sure I will respond to threads asking about these things at some point, I just didn't want to set a precedent in my check-in thread by going off about how much I ship this or that. Doesn't mean I don't have favorites!

My sister isn't hardcore in the sense of this+that=4eva because she is too old for that. But she can get a little emotional over certain scenes of her fave ships so it's my duty to endlessly tease. Which usually earns me a pillow thrown at my head. While when I wanna dissect things she tells me to lighten up which earns her a scowl. But it's fun because while we both can agree on a lot of things we also can disagree sometimes vehemently on others. Which is also while I'm on a discussion board like this. It's really no different.

However we both agree that Buffy's S4 curls were BAD. 😛

Haha I see. Ok maybe I didn't quite catch your meaning. But yes, the Anya/Aud thing is exactly why I was saying "Aud" would've been perfect. Both Aud and Oddrey are nicknames my friends use for me, but "Aud" would've been better since it actually has the BTVS connection. [=

I tend to believe the Buffyverse is a multi-verse and we can all have as many as each story/artwork/etc needs. Are you into fanfic at all?

I actually think "Beer Bad" and "Where the Wild Things Are" are worse, although they at least had some comedic moments to compensate.

Some good shows came from the '90's, terrible fashion, as we see on the first few season of Buffy. lol. Also so of my favorite movies are from the '90's
Beer Bad I can actually watch, WTWTA, is terrible! But I love the Spike/Anya scenes. I just can't sit through 'Inca Mummy Girl' I find it to boring and uninteresting. Also forgot to welcome you to the BB, hope you are enjoying it here.

Thanks for the welcome! I actually also do have an opinion on OTP and other things, but after browsing BB a little, I've decided it might be wiser to reserve those opinions for threads that actually have some kind of thoughtful discussion to them. I really don't want to get into any ship wars or anything like that.

Personally I'm not into fanfic, although I think it's cool that people have the creativity and imagination to write fanfic.

I'm not into the ship wars either. Most of the discussion I've been part of have had just enough energy to grab my interest but an overall courteous nature. The mods do a good job, and this is from someone who annoys them at times. I have friends here who I disagree with about all sorts of things - and they are friends. It helps if you fight to understand and not to win.

I'm a more recent entrant into the fandom but dove in head first and am now in deep.
I too am a 90's kid but didn't watch too much TV during that time period. In 1997 I was spending too much time goofing off with my best friend of the period to notice Buffy.

Like yourself I tend to prefer discussions that focus on the morals, logic and the writing of a specific concept and largely am only drawn to a subject I can add a strong, eloquent opinion to.

While I do support shippings or in this franchise ONE ship, I keep the discussion of it light as my opinions there are pretty loaded and tact is not my strong suit. I say exactly what I think or I say nothing at all and when I'm posting argumentatively I can lose sight of my logic which ends up making me look like an idiot. It's happened here and it's embarrassing.

Thank you for saying this. I do feel like Cangel is not so appreciated here so I do feel a bit reserved but you are absolutely right and everyone here is very respectful. Even when I make a mistaken in my knowledge of the events of either show I'm never corrected in a rude manner and I appreciate that. 🙂
