I sort of like Kennedy....

Well I don't love her but I think that she came into Willow's life at the right time. I do not think they were meant to be soul mates, but I believe that her time in Willow's life will be valuable. Willow was at the time in her life where she had doubts about herself and just plain didn't like herself. Although she did have loving friends who thought no less of her, she still needed a new person in her life that didn't know anyone. So overall I felt like Kennedy gave her hope again and lifted her up.
I know personally I went through something in my life that old friends could not help me get over, but then having new people come into my life helped a lot. So that being said it kind of makes it hard for me to dislike Kennedy, but this could be because I just watched the show recently.

I think Kennedy was the type of girlfriend that Willow needed at the time. I also think she showed a very real side to the Potentials, where some of the girls fell in line, Kennedy questioned everything, which is exactly what Buffy would do.

I would love to see Kennedy explored away from Willow, get to know more about her background and her as a character.

Exactly Willow needed her in her life right at that moment! Not everyone is meant to have time to themselves when they need to be healed, so some people heal faster with people and there is nothing wrong with that.
I agree I think Kennedy needs time to herself and they need to show more of her story too. Maybe then people might actually like her because they would see where she comes from and where she is going. There was times where I didn't like her because she is kind of bratty, but that is her personality and it kind of fit her. I felt like she was more enthusiastic about being a potential slayer and even estactic about actually being a slayer. I think that's why I liked her the most out of all the potential slayers.

Kennedy is a lot better in the comics - I have no problem with her in the comics, making me think that a lot of the problem with her in the series was the actress. The other part that bugs me is that her relationship with Willow was not working and they don't really make sense together. That could've been a plot point and would've made sense as one, but without a plot like that, their relationship felt overly pointless.

Count me in as another member of the minority that likes Kennedy. At first, we had Buffy as the slayer questioning everything decreed by the Watchers' Council. Now we have come full circle and Kennedy is the best prospect among the potentials questioning everything Buffy has decreed. And as we have seen from the quality of choices Buffy has made, people were right to question her.

Kennedy is also the only one of the Potentials with any kind of fighting spirit. Some of the others (like Vi) eventually get to that point, but Kennedy is the only happy warrior of the bunch. Buffy does her duty, Faith is psychopathically predisposed to kick @ss but Kennedy is the only one who is normal but relishes the prospect of being a slayer.

She is also what Willow needs - someone to lift her out of depression and affirm that Tara was not a fluke and it is possible for someone to love Willow.

But I love Kennedy! I love that, what we know of her background, she grew up extremely wealthy and - one can assume - sheltered. And yet, of all the potentials, she is, right off the bat, the most battle ready....

And she absolutely shines in "The Killer in Me"

I had no real problem with her like so many seem to, but she's not a character I particularly like either. She's kind of "there" for me. I think a lot of the hatred stems from just the fact that "she's not Tara", but since I didn't really care for Tara, it didn't bother me at all that Willow got a new romantic interest.

I do agree with [MENTION=12230]Mischlings[/MENTION] though in the regard that the relationship did feel a little pointless. There was no real arc for Willow through Kennedy other than it felt like the producers at times saying "see! She's still gay", which really wasn't needed.

I often say that I can understand why people don't like her but I think the amount of hate she gets is ridiculous. She's not perfect (who is?) but she was good for Willow. It seems to me that people ignore that since they hate/dislike her so much.

I sort of liked her! I think the reason i liked her was because of a personally situation where I was down and then found someone(outside of my social group) to pick me back up.

Yes! I think that is what attracted me to her because despite her only being a potential at first she accepted the duty as a potential slayer and later on a slayer. It's funny how certain things play out and it shows you that not everyone will turn out as you expect them despite how they were raised.

I get your point there about the "See! She's still gay" comment. I do not think she will ever replace Tara and actually she is no where near Tara. Unfortunately Tara died and Kennedy came in at the time where Willow needed someone in her life to lift her spirits back up. I really don't think they will be together forever and that would be best for both of them.

In "The Killer in Me", she is the one who breaks Amy's spell over Willow. She is also a relief from the other slayer don'twannabe's who complain about everything. It's the rest of the potentials who need to be whipped into shape and Kennedy becomes their drill sargeant. I was an assistant instructor in a Tae Kwon Do club and I never saw people as reluctant to make an effort as the potentials.
