It's sad to think that we all love the same thing, and that some of us feel the need to alienate the rest of us. I didn't really fit in with the Kittens (Except for two or three people who were always very kind to me, and I will always respect them for that), I guess mainly because I made it clear that I enjoyed Buffy as a show, and not just because Willow/Tara were in it. I always made it clear I didn't hate Joss, and that I respected him as a writer and as a person.

Probably made me very unpopular with some of the more fanatical members of the W/T fandom.

I find Tumblr to be more welcoming than the Kittens were. I literally found so many W/T fans on there that were so nice and kind and welcoming. I really feel at home there. More so than I did before when I attempted to fit in with the Kittens. But to each their own. We all can't fit in everywhere and get along with everyone all the time.

I never understand when someone who calls themselves a fan of a certain show stops watching just because something doesn't go the way they wanted it to. And that was why I finished watching the series.

After Tara died, and I felt MAJORLY sad, I just watched some of the episodes from seasons 1-3 and I remembered what a great show Buffy is, and I finished watching the whole series. I'm happy I did so, and to this day I have no freakin idea why I would have even THOUGHT of quitting the series because one character died. No idea. Tara's awesome, but I love Willow and Buffy and Giles too. 🙂 Even Anya and Xander and Andrew scored high with me. (I liked Oz, too... Not every W/T fan hates Oz, on the contrary to what a lot of people say) Heck, I even liked Glory! She reminded me of my sister.

I honestly think there wouldn't have been so much drama if it was Oz who died instead of Tara, simply because he is a male. Gay relationships on TV were very rare back in the day so a lot of lesbians looked up to Tillow. Tara's death must have really hurt them. 🙁

I personally can't imagine not watching Buffy anymore after one of my favorite characters die. No, that's a lie I would be very pissed off if Angel dies in the comics 😵

I would hate it if Angel died. Come to think of it, I would also be sad if Oz died. Like Tara, he doesn't deserve it. I liked him.
I'm just wondering... how many Oz fans are there out there? I hear all about Willow/Tara, but never anything about Willow/Oz. (I like both couples a lot)

Actually i think on this board the majority like Oz better, they're just not as vocal as the Tara fans. Were a bit of a minority. From discussions I've had, most people enjoy or like Tara, but they don't love her.
 
It seems to me that Willow's ships aren't as polarising as Buffy's.

With Buffy you tend to get Bangels or Spuffys (or something else) - not always of course, but often. Whereas with Willow there are plenty who like her with either Oz or Tara, which is probably how it should be.

Me, I tend to prefer Oz to Tara, but that's really because I prefer high school Willow to college Willow and therefore like Woz as a couple. 🙂

(I happily ignore Kennedy) 😉
 
Kennedy is something all Buffy fans can pretty much agree to hate.

I like every character (Except for maybe Tara or Faith) most at the beginning of their arcs rather than at the end. (For example, I like high school Buffy or Willow or Giles more than season 7 Buffy or Willow or Giles)

I like Oz/Willow a lot. I probably prefer their relationship to Willow/Tara, mainly because I can relate to Oz, being a rather quiet guy myself.

Willow does seem to have a thing for quiet people. (Kennedy doesn't count!) I think Tara and Oz would be good friends, minus the weirdness of both having been involved with Willow.

Oz would be able to deal with it, eventually, because he's awesomely unflappable, but Tara would be adorably awkward about it for, like, ever.
 
I think that Willow's relationships are less controversial because of how those relationships are written and because of the character herself. Willow knows what she wants and when she breaks up she breaks up - I mean, the whole Oz, Tara, Willow triangle thing lasts less than one episode and everybody involved is an adult about it. Buffy's relationships on the other hand, it's like a Never Ending Story aah aah aah.

Yeah, Tara and Oz are just these really cool people, chill and super friendly too. And hey, they could even start a band or something. Witches and Werewolves or Witch's werewolf. Instant Gothic Rock.

It's interesting, I haven't thought about it but you're right, Willow's ships really aren't as polarising. (I will ignore Kennedy along with you 😉)

For me I can't really pick between Oz and Tara as a partner for Willow, I like both couples and all parties involved. I think each was a good match Willow depending on what stage of her life she was in (and Kennedy does seem to fit the stage she is in during season 7)

What I think, in part, made me so devastated when Tara died I now realize, by reading the thetophers comment on how he prefers high school Willow to college Willow, was that by her time of death Tara was pretty much the only thing I had come to like about Willow. Willow without Oz was still someone I loved as a character, but Willow without Tara (even with her) had to me become insufferable. So while I didn't stop watching because Tara died it definitely dampened any residual affection I had held for the Willow character.

Good Point. In S6 Tara was one of the only real reasons left to like Willow as a character. Afterwards she was much harder to tolerate.

I feel the same way, I could only tolerate Willow because of Tara in season 6. Hell I liked Tara way more than Willow herself in that particular season.
I never thought that Tara was a terribly interesting character. Her sole purpose was always to follow Willow around like a lost puppy. And if you look at her scenes in every episode, she barely interacts with anyone but Willow, Dawn being the one exception. Tara was always just Willow's GF but was never integrated into the gang the way Anya was. I always found it odd how they wrote the character that way. It's like they didn't know what to do with her outside of her being Willow's squeeze.
