Evil Angelus 95
Total Dork
I have had a very similar experience trying to fit in with some other groups of W/T fans and not always being welcomed. In fact, I've mostly been ignored, perhaps because I don't indulge in the same ways or agree with all their opinions. But like any group of people, you are going to have diverse individuals and sub-groups.
It's sad to think that we all love the same thing, and that some of us feel the need to alienate the rest of us. I didn't really fit in with the Kittens (Except for two or three people who were always very kind to me, and I will always respect them for that), I guess mainly because I made it clear that I enjoyed Buffy as a show, and not just because Willow/Tara were in it. I always made it clear I didn't hate Joss, and that I respected him as a writer and as a person.
Probably made me very unpopular with some of the more fanatical members of the W/T fandom.
I find Tumblr to be more welcoming than the Kittens were. I literally found so many W/T fans on there that were so nice and kind and welcoming. I really feel at home there. More so than I did before when I attempted to fit in with the Kittens. But to each their own. We all can't fit in everywhere and get along with everyone all the time.
