I think I have todays winning story.

Today we have had on and off thunder storms. Anyways, I was outside and I mowed our lawn, and whent inside. While I was inside, I heard a couple of random thunder booms. Then like a freaking house exploding "BOOM!!!!!!!!" Now, I have been to several rock concerts, even a couple front row. And I have some times taken my earplugs out on front row seated in front of the speakers, and that still can't even hold a candle to this sound. The walls in my house shook so violently, things were peing torn off by their hooks. When I whent downstairs, I asked my brother what that was. And then I saw my mom. She was just holding herself, and I asked "what was that? What happened?" And my mom looked at me and my brother and with tear swollen eyes and said "I think I just got hit by lightning." Apparently she was working outside, and she had stuck her shovel into the dirt, so she could pull a weed. When she bent down lightning struck the shovel, travled down, went through the semi moistened dirt, and then traveled up through the weed she had hold of and got her. WOW! Lately it's like T.P.T.B. just freaking cranked the excitement level on my life!
 
OMG! That's awful. I hope she's ok and that she feels better! That must have been so scary. I would have had a heart attack. Hope you're all ok.
 
Wow, haven't heard of that happening before. Your mom's a very lucky lady a few centimeters and she could've been in a world of trouble. Thank goodness she's okay. It must've been a wicked storm.
 
A friend of mine told me he saw a similar thing happen to a couple of tree planters in a field one time.

They were standing in a field in a lightning storm, pointing at the sky with their pick-axes. A lightning bolt came down and forked just before it hit to take them both out. They had to drive them to emergency, but they were both OK.
