I Want to See Briley Restart

Reasons:

1. Riley was being an asshole in S5 but he changed a lot. In "As You Were" he was easily the best male out there through the whole episode.

2. His only weakness is dullness right now. He was very loyal to Buffy in S8. And who said interesting-ness can't be learnt?

3. Spike and Angel are still unstable.

4. Even if they finally become stable after Archaeus is slain, it would be much better to date Riley and let him change than sitting there waiting immortal wankers to "change".

5. Buffy's homosexual experiment seems to be failed for her.

6. I don't trust Sam. I think she's up to something and will betray everyone eventually.

Never trusted Sam from the start, she seemed too strait laced to me.

Er... He didn't reappear until the comics. So that episode was the only "reformed new Riley" material based on which I can judge.😳

No, but you might have seen something in him previously? So are you basing most of your case on Riley in the comics? I can't say that Buffy would be happy with either Spike or Angel, but still think they are better suited for her than Riley.

There have been only two relationships in the Buffyverse that I would feel confident in placing in the "Case Closed" file, and those would be Willow/Oz and Buffy/Riley, and both would be for the same reason. In both cases, the couples involved were lovers, and lovers only. As much as I hesitate to use the term, neither were soulmates. Sam was pretty much the perfect match for Riley, someone who could share his life as an equal partner, something that Buffy and he could never be, and, if I recall properly, Oz had found someone who shared his affliction/blessing of lycanthropy by Season 8.

As much as one might wish it to be so, Buffy and Riley will never be equals as long as she is the Slayer and he is a normal human, and I sincerely believe that, ultimately, Riley can't handle being the weaker half of a partnership. He has a hero's attitude, and he can never be more than the sidekick with Buffy.

Riley's pretty much over Buffy by S6. He's like some Guru compared to those obsessive vampires-types. So no, I don't think Riley would go back to Buffy. He's happily married as of S10 (that's a lengthy, stable relationship with somebody who has the same interests) and, to be honest, Buffy is a lot less than what she was. In S5 she was this incredible person, but season 10? Why?

As for not trusting Sam, my money is that she was built by Warren post S5. Riley's money helped Warren launch his ambition to become a crime lord. And bingo Riley has a loyal robot wife!
As evidence see how she takes on the Suvolto demon that was giving Riley and Buffy a hard time...She clearly isn't human. (leaving aside her 'human interactions').
