Agreed.


the main angle of the series is that Angel is a Vampire with a soul. Boreanaz and SMG both were great, but I kept thinking "what's the point?" while viewing this eppy.

Why torture Bangel fans like that?


It's obvious the end result would be them splitting up...Again.
 
I just saw this ep for the first time and ugh! Not even a B & A fan and yet I was sorta teary. It got to me.

Reading the other comments here I see people have really strong feelings about it too. So yeah Angel shouldn't have told her what he'd done, but drama/angst is what good tv is all about folks. And this is good tv.
 
When she's saying never forget is really sad.

Lose interest?

I really don't see that happening at all. In the remaining four years of the show after he left, Buffy still hadn't lost interest in Angel. The same could be said for season 8.

Personally, I think if they had been given a real chance to be together there is no way it wouldn't work. Maybe I'm wrong but if they did break up I don't think it would ever be because of the loss of interest in one another.

Buffy likes men that challenge her, men who are as strong as her and men that aren't threatened by her strenght. She is the slayer and vampires are pretty much the only guys on a par with her. Buffy didn't love Angel because he was a vampire she loved him becuase of he who was not what he was. Angel himself, the person that he is, isn't normal, even if he is human Angel is never going to be your regular run of the mill guy.
 
i wouldn't like being in a realationship where a woman was stronger than me.
 
This episode was probably one of the best. It almost brought tears, but then I remembered I was a man, and we don't cry. It was a better choice to go back to being a vampire than being human. "I love chocolate!"
 
This episode is one of my favourite episodes from the series (course it could be the B/A shipper in me, but still).

I didn't have any problem with Angel making the decision he did to give up his humanity. People have said it was wrong of him to do something that affected her future without telling her, but if you look at Buffy as a person, she is the same way.

Both of them are warriors and both of them make decisions that affect others' lives without consulting them. Both of them wear a mantle of responsibility forced on them so that sort of thing is second nature.

Do I think Angel should have told Buffy what he did? Yes, probably if only so she could have known they did have one perfect day together...but I get why he did it. After making a sacrifice like that (and he gave up everything he ever wanted to protect her which I think people should really realize is an incredible thing) it makes sense that he would want to spare her any more pain.

I think what he did was misguided, but noble...

Angel told Doyle about him becoming human, he and Buffy together for a day and what the Oracles did; Doyle told Cordelia. Willow came to Hyperion to tell them about Buffy's death in The Gift. Maybe the girls talked. Do you think Buffy knows about IWRY?

She has no clue. There is no way they writers would let something like that happen without giving it due attention. Buffy has no idea, if she did know her reaction would be massive. Joss has said though that she may find out. If it is necessary for whatever story they're telling at the time for Buffy to know the events of IWRY, she'll find out.
 
All of this discussion has brought an idea to my warped mind. Assume that Angel either didn't or couldn't reject his humanity in this episode. Human Angel shuts down Angel Investigations and moves back to Sunnydale to be with his lady love.Do they live happily ever after, or is there tension and discontent in paradise when the Slayer has to work with the Initiative, protect and later form an alliance with Spike, who forms friendships with Joyce and Dawn...

How would Angel handle being basically what Xander said he was in "Potential," the guy who fixes the windows; the normal guy surrounded by superhumans?

(Serious question, not a Bangel/Spuffy fishing expedition)
 
Gunn and Robin Wood are two examples that humans ca fight against evil. Angel is a very good and experienced fighter even as human, so there is no comparison with Xander. He did not handle very well the loss of his vampire powers, like Buffy in Helpless.

I think he would struggle for awhile. While Xander/Wood/Gunn/Wes etc all managed Angel is a totally different kettle of fish. He was a Champion, he had a destiny. I think he would have to mourn the loss of that, regardless how happy he would be to have Buffy. Ultimately I think Angel would have to find a way to adapt his game to fit in to a working and valued part of the Sunnydale team. He wouldn't be satisfied to just be the boyfriend anymore.

I'd like to see that happen, considering that Angel seems incapable of viewing Buffy as an adult and increasingly mature woman. She's already more mature than him.

I'm sick of the Buffy and Angel romance. It's nothing but a patriarchal wet dream, as far as I'm concerned. And Angel's actions in this episode seemed to confirm this.

Ok, again, I'm not trying to be mean her, but what?!

I'm all for people having an opinion, occasionally I'm even happy for that opinion to differ from mine, but, I really would like to see what makes you think Angel is incapable of viewing Buffy as a mature woman and how she's more mature than him?

first time i saw this ep , i cried. especially when she would forget everything.
deffo one of the best angel episodes ever, in my opinion anyways. pitty he couldn't of just lost the curse, instead of being human, tht way he could still be with Buffy and still be a champion.
