I Will Remember You

Well that's a little dramatic isn't it? How about he tells her the truth post-time-rewind, she gets upset, naturally, but goes back to Sunnydale and deals with it and really gets to move on with her life properly rather than always thinking "maybe" about Angel.

And you really think that could happen?

We all saw how Buffy was upset and sad when she killed him. And that was her choice, killing him, and she knew her hands did that and she needs to deal with them.
But this wasn't. She would feel weak, like things got out of her control, and I think she couldn't stand that, because like she said, she always won, she always stoped them.

I don't agree that she always thinks about Angel. But at time when she does, it gives her strenght. Like it gave her in Selfless.

Tranquility's idea that Buffy might at first be angry but then move on is something that shouldn't be just dismissed. Like Buffy herself said, she had grown up a lot since Angel's departure.

I'am not doubting her finding out that they had a chance to be together would have hurt her, while Angel making that decision on his own would also have hurt her but i think she would have understood his decision.

Its similar to her accepting him leaving her in the first place. She acknowledged to Willow that she knew Angel was right in his decision to leave. I think that after the initial shock she would have accepted Angel's decision to reverse time.

I don't trust Buffy when it comes to her feelings. She always say she's ready, then she can take it.. but she never could. I think she belives she's so powerful from the inside, as she is from the outside, but in the end she founds out it's not true.

I know i've said this already but i've just watched this episode again and the end of it is so sad. The music, Buffy's tears, Buffy's quotes like "I'll never forget", I felt your heart beat", "its not enough time" just heartbreaking. It doesn't surprise me how popular this episode is with Bangel's.

It still grates with me that Buffy has no memory of what happened. She was robbed of that memory and its not really fair.

Also i'll say again how you can tell just how much Sarah is invested in Bangel. The tears look so real and both her and David look so natural on screen.

Lastly i'll say that "Close your eyes" is the best love theme i've heard. It suits Bangel so perfectly and its immensely powerful especially in the scene i mentioned with Buffy crying and David looking like he wished things could be different.

Part of me understands what you are saying yet i'd argue Buffy could have coped with the news. I don't see her moping around wondering what might have been, she would have got over it.

The main reason i wanted Angel to tell her was because of my own disatisfaction. She's so determined to not forget yet she's powerless at the end of the day. The way she leaves him not knowing what transpired between them just doesn't sit well with me. I would have loved to see Angel just succumb to temptation and tell her what happened.

Part of me believed that if Angel had done that then we would have also gotten to see another interesting scene play out, Buffy's response to finding out would have been really interesting to see wouldn't you agree?

That's the thing, I really think she wouldn't have coped with it good. Not at that time. He just left to give her space to grow up. She started to, and jumping into bed with someone just because you can is not very grown up to do. In that time emotions were still leading her, and she showed them with no fear. They tried to deal with that in a grown up way, but when they touched each other, they were done. Everything they decided a minute before was gone. So I think news like that, in that time, would be too much for her. I don't say she would go crazy with intention of killing herself, but as a girl who wants a normal life, normal college experience and normal relathionship.. well I think the fact she had everything she ever dreamed would be too much.

Now, I think she could've handle it, and I agree, it would be very interesting to see.

OMG...just watched it again. I just wonder, how can anyone doubt Angel's Buffy true love??? The whole episode is heartbreaking, romantic, it feels real. We can see Buffy SO incredibly happy because she's always loved Angel, being able to be with him is all she EVER wanted. I just think that there could never be anyone for her, not like Angel truly owned her heart..and still does. She could do anything for him and of course, vice-versa. I just feel myself screaming NO! everytime Angel goes to the oracles and they tell him, if he's human, he's gonna get Buffy (and probably himself) dead. I know many people say Angel is such a stupid for doing this...but I think letting all you want and desire go to guarantee the person you love a future and a life and to make her safe is selfless and brave. Angel's always been like this: Buffy's safety and life comes before his wants. I still think he needed to tell her, maybe not right away, but he could've have explained...of course that would have brought up fighting and extreme pain...but I still hope it's gonna come out..maybe they'll find a way to restore that memory's day in Buffy's mind. I guess this is my fav episode ever...best Bangel kiss, best everything about them...I might be saying this just because I'm a crazy Bangel LOL..but I tried, with limits, to be obejctive. 🙂

Beautiful Post. Angel is a hero and heros make the difficult choices.

I agree. I want to put back that memories back in her mind. I think she's ready now. I hope that Joss will create some place in or outside this world where she can regain her memories.

Exactly..I mean, they're doing everything in Season 8, then why not give her that memory? I'm going to keep hoping he will. :biggrin3:

I'am totally with you but i can't see it happening. I don't think Joss will see a need to return those memories to Buffy but we can all hope he does i suppose. :smile3:

As a Spuffy fan, I feel treacherous saying this, but...

*whispers* I actually loved this episode. (Spuffies, please don't hurt me!) As ashamed as I am to admit it, this episode sort of made me realise that underneath all my Spuffy-ness is an inner Bangel *gasp* I know, I'm a traitor! I should be tortured then impaled with a rail-road spike! But I couldn't help it! The end where Buffy is hysterically crying and time is about to rewind...I was temporarily Bangel, thinking Angel was stupid and actually WISHING HE'D STAYED HUMAN SO THEY COULD LIVE TOGETHER FOREVER AND EVER!!!!

Help! I need psychiatric help! Someone, a Spuffy--any Spuffy!--save me from my sinful thoughts and ways! 😛

Btw, I'm just being silly. I don't actually think Bangels need help or are sinful. Don't mean to offend anyone 🙂

lol, cute post. :)
I thought this episode was perfect, my favorite one of the Angel Series. It was just... amazing. Death to everyone who hates the episode! Just kidding, well sort of. To me this episode explored the what-if-Angel-was-human-and-actually-had-a-chance scenario. It showed how happy they were together and can you really so those two with anyone else? You can see Angel settling down with Buffy, them getting married and having children and spending the rest of their lives together.

Can you really see Angel getting married and having children with Cordy? Or Buffy getting married and having a normal family life with Spike?!

Yes, I like to think Buffy can have a normal family with Spike ;

Just imagine hair of Buffy's and Spike's kids.. I'm thinking like something Kelly had in Married with Children.

I literally just finished watching this episode for the first time, and let me just say as soon as I heard Buffy's voiced my heart almost jumped out through my mouth! I was so excited that she was there!!! Anyhoo... Watching this, seeing how Angel asks to not be mortal, really makes me think that he really did truly with all of his being really loved Buffy, otherwise he would have just stayed mortal.

And at the end, the clock ticking, gah and Buffy saying "I'll never forget" over and over....almost made me cry. This may very well play a huge part in me making my decision between Bangel or Spuffy

Go back a page and read my post, I was torn with this episode too. Hope you make the right decision, just give yourself time. :)

Fixed, I typed that way too fast. Or did I? Lol. 😉

That scene was beautiful, I honestly thought that Buffy would remember remnants or feelings after the Oracles swallowed the day.

yeah i read that and i'm like seriously considering just shipping both lol and I was a bit afraid to watch Angel because I thought it would be tacky...boy was I wrong!!!

This in absolutely no way alters my absolute support of the Bangel relationship, but my problems with this episode are well known. Any time in fiction that anyone tries to alter time in order to "make things better," the anomaly always causes more harm than good, plus there is the general theme that all Fate is, in the end, inescapable.

But Angel's choice didn't appear to affect anything, good or bad, except for his own emotions. It was indeed treated as if it never happened except for the brief discussions with Cordy & Doyle. I do love how the conversation with Doyle in the next episode segued into his [Doyle's] heroic actions.

Granted, Buffy didn't die PROTECTING ANGEL, but she died the next year anyhow, so all that Angel's sacrifice resulted in was a year of happiness with the woman he loved. A poor bargain, if you ask me.

But he didn't know that that would happen. He thought he was making the right decision at that time.

That scene was beautiful, I honestly thought that Buffy would remember remnants or feelings after the Oracles swallowed the day.

Me too. And that's my one issue with this episode (which is one of my favorites BTW- curse you Joss Whedon for granting us our greatest desire and then tragically breaking our hearts!!). Every other attempt of Angel's to erase memories has been found out. I know that this situation is a bit different, but it is still a psychic/supernatural manipulation, and it's hard for me to believe that some semblance of memory does not bleed through for Buffy at some point. I kept watching the rest of BtS waiting for it to happen. and it never does. I'm not saying I want it to happen, I'm just saying that it surprises me, and doesn't "fit in" with what happens in other similar situations in AtS.

Just re-watched it tonight. God it's a tearjerker. I stand by my previous comments, except to reiterate that I agree even more that Angel should have told her. Even if he had not made the decision to turn back the day, it would not have worked: she was way to preoccupied with him, and would've been even moreso with him human.

I re-watched it today too! Along with 'You're Welcome', and wow it is so weird saying that I re-watched an Angel episode when I just finished the series. Lol. It's such an awesome episode, and it's one like this that can make even the biggest Spuffy like and appreciate Bangel. 😉
