I found a possible inconsistency in this episode. Or maybe not but I found it strange.

It's at the end of the episode and Angel visited the Oracles about turning back the clock so he could remain a vampire.

I don't understand why the Oracles told him that only he would remember the day. Wouldn't that day have been enough for him to turn into Angelus? I mean, since it was him and Buffy the first time... 😉 Or maybe he tried hard not to go there because it was painful instead of happy?

I know it's weird to ask this long after the series' end, but I was reading another thread and it got me to thinking about this.

Memories of the event arent enough to turn him into Angelus, he only has the sense of true happiness at the very moment it is happening. If just remembering it was enough he would have turned back into Angelus everytime he thought about the first time they ever had sex. Idk thats what I think anyways. I apologize if I misunderstood your question.

I think that whatever happiness he had from that day was overshadowed by the pain of having to reverse the day and make Buffy forget everything.

I bet having to live with that pain is right up there with living with the pain of Angelus killing all of those people

No, that makes a lot of sense. 🙂

Yeah, that's what I gathered as I was writing the post. LOL! But I wasn't completely sure. 😉

Well, the curse was removed when Angel was transformed back into a human, so there's no danger there. And I don't think at the end Angel was even close to perfect happiness. Knowing what he and Buffy could have, should have, had and had it taken away like that, and to be the only person in the world who knew what happened...that would be pretty hard.
