I recognize the possibillity that being too similar might be a problem, but being too different as with Kenney/Willow might also be a problem.

Personally I don't think Willow and Tara are too similar to make a relationship work long term.

I mean they're both basically good people who want to do the right thing, but surely that's not a problem in a relationship. They have common interests, but how is that going to damage their love?

And after that they have differences all over the place. Differences in upbringing. Differences in outlook. Differences in moral borders. In my opinion they're just different enough to keep things interesting.

Naah, I don't think they would have broken up any time soon either. I just don't like their relationship now as much as I used to. One of the reasons might also be that they don't show their relationship much (until Seeing Red).

I think Willow and Tara would have remained together if not for Tara's death. Even after everything that Willow did (that I mentioned in another thread), Tara still loved her and was just as eager to be with her again as Willow was. If soulmates exist, Willow and Tara definitely were that.

ok, as far as i'm concerned, willow and oz qill always take first place as for as willow/? is concerned, but still. i don't see how everything you brought up has anything to do with destroying a relationship. what, when two people meet they have to be exactly/almost identical in order to make it work? because i don't buy it. and what does upbringing have to do with that? they didn't exactly come from two different worlds (and if you're referring to the fact willow was jewish and tara christian, just so you know that you're talking to a person with a jewish dad and a christian mom). the differences between people don't ruin a relationship, peroid. unless they're really extreme and as far as i'm concerned, that's not the case for willow/tara.

I think N4H was just distinguishing the fact that someone had brought up earlier that someone had mentioned regarding the fact that they believed Willow and Tara were too much alike.

Also in terms of religious differences, yes I agree that people shouldn't use that as a basis of who they should date, but it still happens - a lot. I'm glad your parents were able to look past that. Fortunately though, Willow's Jewish heritage and Tara's Christianity never seem to come into play as neither one seems deeply religious.

Yes Wicca, Cordelia is correct I was making comment against this passage from LL.

The problem I had with Willow and Tara is that their personalities seemed too similar to me. I've always found the idea of a couple with similar temperaments as unhealthy . . . almost smacking of narcissm.

My point was that Tara and Willow were not too similar. They were just different enough to make things interesting.

Willow had so dealt with her problems. Trying to stop a habit cold turkey is very difficult and Willow was on her way to a better path. Unfortunately, Tara died and not only put her back on that path, but a little further up the road.


The problem with Willow is that she and the others had believed that by going cold turkey, she could solve her problems. Everyone had thought that the misuse of magic was the main problem. It was understandable, considering that the Scoobies were young and inexperienced in dealing with addictions. What no one had realized was that Willow had never addressed the issues that led to her depending upon and abusing magic in the first place. Namely her personal insecurities. She had never bothered to address them, until the summer she had spent at that witch coven in Devon.
