ideological hegemony

Does anyone know anything about the concepts of ideological hegemony? I recently began researching the topic for my own personal curiosity, as well as an English report. There's hardly any information on the subject, other than bios on Antonio Gramsci, but I'm curious if anyone here knows of or is interested in it.

I don't know anything about it but I'd heard Gramsci's name somewhere. Google came up with a few articles ( http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q="ideological+hegemony"&btnG=Search&meta= ) but I suspect I need the "Philosophy for Dummies" version...😉

Uh, I'm not even sure what a hegemony is...is it a meeting of hedgehogs? So would an ideological hegemony be a bunch of hedgehogs meeting to discuss ideologies?? Gotta get me a dictionary...(didn't mean to make fun, trusty, but I couldn't resist...and it's 3am here, so I'm a bit tired and silly...)
