I think Giles quite possibly the council would have been EXTREMELY interested in a potential cure for vampirism, especialy if it was reproducible


possibly trying to create a synthetic analog, to the demons blood, or seeing if it could take gasous form. or such.

"IWRY" is right near the top of my all time favorite episodes, but the connection the Amora Demon is pretty thin. You would think that the Watcher's Council, over thousands of years of demon and vampire fighting, would have recognized that its blood acts as a cure-all solvent and can restore life. Hell, the properties of it are clearly so powerful that it would probably be able to cure almost every human disease as well. I love that story to death, but that is the one part I wouldn't mind tweaked.

To be honest, I don't think Giles or the Council would want anything to do with such a 'cure all'.

Think about it, the blood turned Angel human, yes, but Angel also had a soul. Regular vampires? They're not so much with the souls. 'Curing' them all of their vampirism, what's that going to do? Nothing but create a bunch of psychopaths.

Yes, according to the comics, Morah blood can be used to cure human ailments, so that might be something the Council might have wanted to look into, but as a means to get rid of vampires? It's just not a viable option. Not unless they want millions of serial killers running around.

I seriously doubt that the Watchers' Council would care one way or the other whether there was any sort of cure for vampirism. They were focused on one thing, and one thing only: killing vampires. That was their business. Most likely they received funding, covertly, of course, from any number of individuals and even governments for their services, and enjoyed plenty of other less tangible benefits as well. Eliminating vampires would have put them out of business. Sure, there are other types of supernatural threats that they could concern themselves with, but exterminating vampires is their bread and butter. The other stuff is just a side line.

Put another way, offering the Watchers' Council a cure for vampirism would be like offering OPEC a cheap, clean substitute for petroleum. They would be much more likely to suppress it than exploit it.
