If Buffy is rebooted and Willow is in the series, should she Dark Willow again at some point?

If she has the same deep personality traits/flaws of moral relativism and emotional immaturity/inability to handle negative emotions healthily then absolutely.

I would want more serious consequences for her actions though so she could complete some kind of coherent character arc.
 
Does anyone think Dark Willow is sort of like the gothic witch Nancy from the older witch movie called the Craft:

moral relativism. Yeah, that's a good word for how Willow is. The trick is if you're not dealing with moral relativisim you're dealing with moral absolutism and it's hard to pull off shades of grey with that
 
Willow was also a straight muggle during the best and most iconic years of the show, yet, you can be darn sure the character will always be portrayed as a lesbian witch. I suspect the same is true with Willow's rage leading her to the dark side.

There are degrees. Buffy killing 99.99% of all vampires she encounters on the show is pretty absolutist and yet vampires and slaying are not depicted as boring. And too much moral relativism is what the show itself contracted in S4 and it got worse as the show continued.

Generally speaking Angel's show was better at that kind of thing, partially because Angel himself was just more morally compromised from the start.

But then you have the problem of they take place in the same universe so shouldn't the morality be the same?
 
Nancy in that film was a total psychopath and had a bad home life, but Willow's rage stemmed from grief. The writers gave so much foreshadowing , even in season four I think Giles and Willow had a talk in Something Blue and she basically threatened him. Then she goes all nuclear on Glory because of Tara which is a major clue as well. I may have that episode in season four wrong though. I don't think I could handle the return of Dark Willow, for me it was just harrowing.

They were the same, its just that AtS characters better illustrated grey morality in general. The conversation between Wesley and Willow in 'Orpheus' is a prime example.

Basically speaking BtVS moral relativism often came across as unintended hypocrisy in later seasons - especially regarding characters like Anya or Spike- whereas AtS's came across as a genuine struggle between heroism and the realities of the world the good guys live in.
