If Buffyverse Characters were transported to the Land of Oz

Was watching a clip of "The Wizard of Oz" this morning and got to thinking about which roles our Buffyverse characters would fill.

Since it's all a mish mash of mythology, quiet heros, fairy tale, and archetypes...lets drop our friends into the Land of Oz and see where they fall and what they do.

Seems like a given that Buffy would be Dorothy, but I want to think outside of the box on even that role.

Now I am going to take some more allergy medicine.
 
Willow would be the Wicked Witch of the East and Glory would be the West 😉 😛

Xander would be the lion, Giles the scarecrow and Spike the tin man. Tara would be Glinda. Oz would be the wizard.

Or Dawn could be Dorothy and Buffy Glinda, and Joyce Auntie Em.
 
I see Spike as the tin man too. I hadn't thought of Glory as the WWW but that totally works, even has minions instead of munchkins doing her bidding.

Giles as scarecrow, is what first came to me too. And xander as the lion. Maybe Anya is ToTo. She's always there, occasionally helps them stumble onto something useful.

or Giles as Glenda..."oh Buffy you could have done it at any time if you only believed in yourself, or that red scythe thingy."

The trio, OBVIOUSLY...has to be the Lollipop Guild. lol.

why?
Because everyone talks about Buffy all the time, or are looking for her, because she's the stuff.
But she has a superiority complex and an inferiority complex about it (or whatever Conversations with dead people said about that), and while she wishes she could make people brave, or give them hearts, or brains, the best Buffers can do is either send them on an ill-advised mission or give them a hearty speech and make them believe that they have gotten those things.

Angel and Spike are clearly the horse of a different color. 😀

Clearly Glory is Dorothy. All she wants to do is go home. lol. I think we all agree Xander is the Lion. Didn't Andrew summon flying monkeys to attack the school play or something? So yea makes sense he's just a flying monkey. lol
 
For a bad ass Dor0thy how about Faith. Angel could be the Tin Man . Xander could be the Lion & Giles at the beginning could be the Scarecrow.
We could have Tara as Glinda & Buffy as the Wizard since in Faith eyes she had everything . Glory could be the Wicked witch .
Maybe Willow or Dawn for Toto ?
 
This was actually done in a metaphoric way in the Pylea arc.

Cordy was Dorothy, just trying to find her way home.

Wes was the scarecrow who was worried about his competence and intellect.

Gunn was the Tin Man, trying to find his heart, or where his heart lies: with AI or his old crew.

Lorne was the Cowardly Lion who was afraid to go back to his home dimension.

Xander: Cowardly Lion
Angel: Scarecrow
Spike: Tin Man
Joyce: Aunt Em (since she's sick the WW uses this to taunt Dorothy in the crystal ball)
Cordelia or Tara: Glinda
Glory: Wicked Witch of the West
Glory's Minions: The Flying Monkeys!
The Key: The Ruby Slippers
Giles: The Wizard (although I think the Mayor's personality would suit the character more)

Uggh, I know there's a role for Anya in there somewhere.... maybe as the Wizard's main guard?
And Willow.... hmm...

There are actually a lot of parallels with TWOZ to S5, right down to an episode titled "No Place Like Home."

Also I think Tara would pull off a better Glinda.
 
Strangely, this week's Lost Girl (here) was a take on the Wizard of Oz. But only the "Dorothy" character was herself, all the others were Dopplegangers.
 
I am thinking Jonathan as the WWW main guard. He was sympathetic to Dorothy and presented her with the Witch's broomstick after Dorothy melted her, like Jonathan presented Buffy with the umbrella.

I've been thinking more about Giles as the Scarecrow. He loved Dorothy, came up with plans, encouraged the others. He told the Lion he could execute the plan the the Witch's castle etc.

I'm still struggling to cast the Wizard, in some aspects the first evil could be the Wizard because it needed to use a front, dead people, to intimidate others and speak for it.
 
Jonathan sounds good for the WWW main guard. I don't think the first evil is right since the Wizard was good .
 
What about Clem for the wizard? Because, he's a demon so you at first sight would think he was big and bad, but he's really a nice guy.

Or Demon!Giles...
