I would like to think that Wes would have gone to Cordy, but the problem with that is, Cordy would certainly have gone immediately to Angel and confronted him with the prophecy and why Connor had to be taken away. Would Angel give up his miracle son, even for her? I seriously doubt it. Of course, even if he had, nothing would have come of it, since the prophecy was all B S to begin with, but Wes, at that time, knew that, and neither would anyone else who he might have confided in.

Ultimately, I think that Wes kept everything secret because he wanted to take all of the blame for his actions, not involving any of his friends. he knew full well what Angel's reactions would be, regardless of all of his good intentions, and he didn't want any of that being heaped on his friends.

Absolutely. Cordelia had experience of Angelus so she would know what the true danger consisted of. The problem with Fred and Gunn was they had no idea of what they were dealing with. If they warned Angelus in any way it would have been a full out ugly torture/massacre. I think that was reason enough not to talk things over with Fred and Gunn. Even Lorne, who might have been able to read the situation, couldnot conceivably lie to Angelus. Whatever he saw would have been written on his face.

Cordelia is the only person who could have had any real influence on Wesley's decision. He could have trusted Cordy to take care of the baby while he dug deeper into whether they were dealing with Angel or Angelus.

You do have a definite point here, but, if there were any chance that they were dealing the possibility of either Angel or Angelus threatening Connor, it's quite likely that Cordy taking care of the baby while Wes did more research on the matter, it would still have involved someone, in this scenario, Cordy, taking Connor away somewhere where he would be protected from his father, preferably with someone there who would be able to defend the baby if things actually did turn out for the worst, which could have been a fantastic opportunity for a Buffy/Angel crossover, especially if Buffy wound up recruiting another vampire to help her protect the baby. (See there, Thetopher, just for you, because you were expecting it, I shoehorned Spike into the story line)

Anyhow, whoever did it, and however long it would have had to take to disprove the false prophecy, the only safe option would have been to take Connor somewhere where he would be safe during that time, and I still believe that Angel would resist that action, no matter who proposed it. Best bet would still be Wes taking Connor, in this case, to Sunnydale, hoping for help from Giles with the research, and Cordy staying in LA to explain things to Angel, but, for my fantasy crossover to take place, she would have to be unsuccessful.

i dont understand why Wesley secretly taking connor was so bad,he did it with the intentions of raising somebody elses baby by himself....but cordy could have helped him avoid losing the baby.
