If Cordelia stayed on Buffy

I'm glad Cordelia went to LA because I love her but I also love Anya and I get the feeling that we wouldn't get as much Anya if Cordelia stayed in Sunnydale.

I'm fairly certain that had Cordelia not made the move to LA she would've been written out of the series before too long. It was obvious by the end of season 3 that the writers were running out of ideas for what to do with her. She was getting a lot less screentime, and while the screentime she did get was awesome, her only real "storyline" was having a crush on Wesley. Though I suppose they could've figured out ways to make her a more active member of the plot.

Well Joss promised she would come back if Angel didnt work out so I dont think she wouldve been written off until she got pregnant like in Angel most likely. She was already growing as a charecter on Buffy and it wouldve continued. And I am sure they couldve found a storyline for Cordelia for the 7 year run. I personally still wouldve given her the visions.

but could you imagine if cordy and anya had screen time together? itd be hysterical!

that would be hysterical, especially if they started comparing notes on xander...

I found their short time together in BS3 to be kinda funny yet uneventful all at once

She was growing as a character on Buffy, but it got a bit stunted after the break-up with Xander. I'm sure the writers would have found a way to include her in season 4 and beyond...it's just difficult to imagine after watching the latter half of season 3.

And to whoever commented on watching her and Anya together...would Anya have even gotten as big a role had Cordelia not left?

I'm pretty sure when they brought Anya in they had serious plans for her, Em's a pretty good actress with a long pedigree...then again so did John Ritter...

Anya was brought in to fill the vacancy Cordy was leaving by going to L.A. That was the plan all along
I'm looking forward to watching Angel because I didn't really get any role she had in Buffy short of a foil for the scoobies for laughs. If she had a big enough part on Angel for VG to like her, she must have had some character development there.

I can't see her really having a role if she stayed...unless she took on the role Harmony did. Short of the oddity with Xander and being angry with the scoobies, what did she do for the show? Even in The Wish, the most Cordy contribution episode ever...she didn't even live through 'it' or matter that much.

So I'm glad she left. I think another series probably did her character more credit and gave it more of a spotlight to work with, I'm just glad she brought us Anya before she switched shows...

If you haven't seen Angel yet, dude you're missing out!
I agree that it would have been interesting to see Cordy make an appearance on Buffy after having grown in Angel. And let's not forget that after some training from Angel, and plenty of field experience, Cordy was more than capable of handling herself in a fight. It would have been awesome to see her showing up the Scoobies in fights and surprising everyone with her ass-kicking abilities (and maybe a showdown with her and Buffy!).

Also, something I think would have been interesting to see, was to have had a crossover with Big Bads... like, the ultimate Big Bad that threatens both Sunnydale and L.A. which causes the Scoobies and Team Angel to join forces, annoy each other, then have to get along to fight the Big Bad. I know it sounds kind of crazy, but it would be the ultimate crossover.

No amount of training could make her ready to fight Buffy. It would take her one minute or less to take Cordelia out.

You know I think the best idea they evr had in the Buffy-verse was bring Cordelia to LA I mean like so many others have pointed out her role would have been pointless on Buffy and she wouldn't have came even close to the character she was on Angel.

I mean the Angel, Doyle and eventual are what put Cordy on her path to become a better person. She evolved so much and I absoutely love the character she was so many different aspects of this wonderful character. I mean to a certain extant I even I love her in S4 I mean if you pretend like she isn't posessed or had slept with Connor she's great.

And I say that because personally I loved the interation Angelus and Cordy. But back on topic I think Cordy should have returned to Sunnydale in S3 sometime I think the Scobbies deserved to see the person Cordelia Chase had become she could have kinda did for them what she did for Angel in S5. Allowed them to take a look at themselves almost a if Cordy can change anythings possible.

I think if cordelia had stayed...they should have made her a lesbian instead of Willow...or with Willow. That would also be awesome.

TBH, I think she was better off being on Angel. I just don't think she would have worked after season 3 of Buffy.

Here's an idea for you. Cordelia didn't go to LA, because, instead of Harmony getting turned at the end of Season 3, she did, and retained enough of her human personality that, like Harm was, Cordy is basically the same person except for the vamp upgrade, and she now has the hots REALLY BADLY for ol' demon magnet Xander. (Harm can go to LA and help Angel, then we could have had "Hangel." or maybe "Anglemony.") Cordi and Xander have a toe curling, window steaming affair for the rest of the series. Buffy and Spike are Bride's Maid and Best Man at their wedding, and she could wear the amulet into the hellmouth.

Oddly enough that's not a bad idea I mean if you think about it. All man now you've got me interested in Harm's character development had it been her to go to LA and get the vision maybe S4 of Angel would have been a little different.lol.

i think cordelia's character would have stayed about the same. i mean she was in sunnydale forever and until angel rubbed off on her, she was just funny and in it for a good time.

As I do love Xander and Anya together, if Cordelia stayed on Buffy I would like to see Cordy and Xander together again 🙂 I would like to see her like another funny face of the gang 🙂

I think that if Cordelia had stayed in Sunnydale, she and Xander would have gotten back together. Anya had left town before the final battle, and there was no real reason to bring her back except to play snuggle puppy with Xander. I think that Xander and Cordy would have made a much more interesting couple than Xander and Anya ever were.

(Now, here's a thought. Anya left Sunnydale and wound up in LA, where she meets up with Angel and goes to work for him. She could have handled the AI office work just as well as Cordy. Their roles could have been reversed quite easily. Angya, anyone?)

OK, here's how it would go. Cordelia attends UC Sunnydale, because she is unable to pay her way through the various and more successful colleges she was accepted into. She tries desperately to leave behind her, the weirdness that is Buffy and friends, but inevitably gets thrust into paranormal situations. Instead, she pursues a career in journalism, and joins the local news team and attempting to work her way to the top. By the end of S5, she becomes a professional news reporter. In Season 6, she becomes very big headed and obsessed with money, so attempts to show the world the inconvenient truth about Buffy Summers. seeing it as a great opportunity to make millions. Jonathan becomes her personal photographer and she has romantic relations with a new guy in town, who turns out to be a demon (no surprises there.). However, a spell gone wrong forces the whole town to revert into children. Cordelia re-discovers her true aspirations in life and that Buffy and her have more in common than she first perceived. She forgets her beef with Buffy and rejoins the Scoobies. In S7, however, she is discovered to be a Potential Slayer. Once activated, she becomes a powerful ally to the Scoobies and sacrifices herself to save Buffy, when Caleb attempts to slice Buffy's head off.

Might sound weird, but I know I could get some storylines from her journalism career and her strained relationship with Buffy is a good thing to play on.

Due to all the people saying she'd replace Anya or stay with Xander, I now hope that if she stayed in Buffy she'd have been killed.

No, I'm kidding, I'm just bias towards Anya. Moving on, Cordy was one of my favourite characters on Angel, but only because of how much she changed from being in Buffy. I think if she'd stayed on Buffy, she'd have taken a lot longer to change from the shallow Cordy of seasons one through three. She wanted to become an actress, but ended up working for Angels Investigations, yes? And I think helping the helpless was what completely changed Cordy (That, and falling in love with Angel, obviously 😉) and whereas if she'd stayed in Sunnydale and attended UC Sunnydale she may have stayed associated with the Scoobies, I don't think she'd have been a vital part of the gang - She'd have still been human, and I think at some point or other she'd have probably been killed off, not necessarily, but I think it'd get to a point where Cordy seemed a little pointless.

Maybe it's just because I'm a diehard Anya and Xander/Anya fan, but I don't think if Cor had stayed she and Xander would have gotten together again, or she'd have replaced Anya. Anya actually was helpful, as she had demonic contacts, and after over 1100 years of life, she had a lot of experience; Cordelia didn't. And, Xander and Cordelia? Come on, it was a high school relationship, did they ever even say 'I love you'? (If they did, I'm sorry, I don't remember it. I try and blank their relationship out of my mind. 😛) Xander and Anya had love; real, powerful love. I mean, they were going to get married, they lived together...Xander and Cordy never even slept together. I just don't think there would have been much point in the character of Cordelia long after season three, personally, I think that's why she was moved into Angel.
