If Cordelia stayed on Buffy

Well, if Cordelia would have stayed on Buffy I hoped that she would have evolved to something similiar to what she did on Angel. But as Apesfindshapes said, I don't think that's very likely. I think Cordy would have been bored if she had continued living in such a small town as sunnydale, and Angel, Doyle and moving to LA was such a big part of her growth. I think she could have evolved without Angel and Doyle, but I think not moving would have held her back and she would've been bitter and more bitchy.

I like the idea MrNewman had though, with her and Harmony being leaders of a vampire gang. I would also liked it if eventually Cordy and Harmony fell in love. That would probably even beat Cangel for me, for it would also have grown out of a strong friendship but with two of my favourite girls! 😀

But I would think that she could have easily bumped off Jay Leno for her own talk show in LA. 😉

I was gutted she left after season 3. It's strange to think that Cordy was only part of 3 seasons of Buffy - yet she had such a big impact on the characters and the show itself. It's a shame she never returned even for a one-off episode. I know people say her time in Sunnydale had ended, but she could have returned to pick up something from her old home? Or something like that 🙂

I thought she did better on Angel.
Like Dawn was to Buffy, Connor was to Cordelia. A catalyst for growth.

Her story there was finished, she had moved on. The only time it would have been even likely for a cross over for her that made sense would have been in seasons 1 or early 2 BUT this was before Angel so she had nothing to brag about. Ironically the best time for her was the time when she really had no reason to go and it would have been detrimental to her character to do so - she transcended all that.

Absolutely! There's only one way to get into the Scoobies: by dating a Scooby. Cordelia broke up with Xander, so she's out as a friend. Actually, she was never really in, because neither Buffy nor Willow ever really accepted her. She'd have to come back as a villain. But the Scoobies don't take her seriously enough for that. She'd turn out to be a comic-relief villain, Harmony with a heartbeat. I'm glad they let her go.
 
I don't think Cordelia would have been good beyond season 3 of Buffy, since season 4 was such a huge change it would be hard to write reasons to keep her in the story and relevant at the same time. Angel was really the best move for her character

Charisma said that Joss told her had Angel not of worked out in the end that she would "always have a home on Buffy." I wonder how and what they would've done there, in that case. How would they have brought her back after leaving? She might've had to wait out the rest of the season to come back, I would think.

I'm a fan of the original Scooby Gang (season 3) and she was just as a unique part of it as anyone else so had she stayed I'd hope she'd still be that role only grow, of course. Growing is the point, anyway. A Cordy-Riley romance, whoa. What if she would've been the one to invite the Initiative into the gang? And Buffy just went solo for the year? Hmm. I dunno. It`s hard to think of scenario`s now just after thinking about the directions everything went in and the side effects of having her there; like I wonder if they would`ve faded out Anya. Or what would`ve happened with Spike, who was supposed to have been her "replacement."

Though if Cordelia stayed, and Anya was still there, maybe there could have been a bit more Cordelia and Xander and later maybe if Tara still arrived there could have been Xander/Anya still and Willow/Tara, and - shoot me for being crazy - Cordelia/Oz if Oz never left as well. It would have caused some spicy Willow and Cordelia interaction because of Oz, though Tara could easily comfort Willow 😛 Anya and Cordelia could also maybe talk Xander-talk (like I had this one dream Tara lived and Kennedy and Tara had Willow-talk) And if Cordy and Tara had some sort of friendship or something, I'd like to see how Cordy would have reacted to Tara getting killed. If Oz still had left, either Cordelia would just stay single or some new guy could have a strong relationship with her like the strong relationship Xander and Anya had. If Cordy and Anya did have some sort of interactions, I wonder how Cordelia would have felt if she realized Anya was dead in 'Chosen', well...if Cordelia even made it that far in the series. I would have liked to see how Cordy would have evolved on Buffy instead of Angel - because if Angel never happened or S1 failed, she would have had to stay/come back to her home, and either get some character development in Sunnydale or die.
