Imagine for a moment that the entire pregnancy issue had never happened and Cordy's was still there in Season 5, do you think that she, instead of Nina, would have the one who we saw in bed with Angel in "Power Play?" And, if so, do you think that, like Nina, he would have tried to send her away before the big battle?

If she had stayed on AtS, I guess James couldn't have been a regular so I think that'd be better for me. I do love Cordelia though, and I still did want her on the show. She had much more to give to the show.

I never thought of that though, what would happen if she was in season 5, and all of that Nina deal. I don't know if after what happened with her and Connor Angel could have been with her. They had some connection in 'You're Welcome', and they both remember Connor. But because of that I'm not so sure they could have been together. It must have some effect on them.

I also loved Nina, so I have no problem with him being with her. But if it were Cordy, I think she'd stay and fight with the rest. They kept Lorne even though he's not a fighter. And she has some fighting skills that she learned from Angel. So no, I don't think Angel would have sent her away. I don't think she'd go either.

Not that it matters who is in bed with Angel, because we all know its Buffy who is in his heart...but I'd like to think it would still be Nina in bed with Angel. 😉 😛

I personally don't think Angel would have tried to send Cordy away if she had been there at the end. I think he knew her well enough to know that she would stay and fight beside all her friends/family. Plus, by that time I imagine he had a little more confidence in her fighting abilities and would acknowledge that they needed all the help they could get.

If it was Cordy I don't think Angel could have made her leave or even told her to 😛
I think it would have been a even better season if she was around and I think in the end she would have fought in the big battle.

Plus Angel and Nina were very new compared to his other relationships so he didn't know what she was capable of or vice versa, so to me him sending her away was the thing to do.

It's hard to imagine since the end of season 4 would have been different. If Cordelia was the Big Bad she would most likely have some (not that much) redemption to do. Spike and Cordelia would have been awesome, Cordelia would have begun her relationship with Angel and Spike would be there to keep things from getting too cheesy for the audience lol

No, cause Cordy would have brought him true happiness. 😛

And no, I think she would've been fighting right alongside them in Not Fade Away, even if she couldn't physically be at that alley for some reason (one can't really imagine Cordelia of all people bloodied and soaked in an alley, but maybe that's just me) but she'd still be helping them. She died for the mission in You're Welcome. I think the capacity to make that ultimate sacrifice was in her all along, and she wouldn't be afraid to face the final battle in NFA.

I think Cordy would fight to the death for her 'family' in Angel, she's matured a lot throughout Angel. I'd like to imagine Cordy and Angel together because I think its just so far from the whole Bangel situation its mad. You're Welcome is one of my ultimate Angel episodes and I think it was a pefect goodbye for Cordy so on another hand I don't see how they could have done that better either.

Lol, what no Nina? No, that I will not sign on to. I like Nina too much 🙂 (and the idea of Cordy and Angel in bed together... blasphemy! gosh, just looks so wrong to me I wouldn't be able to watch it)

And as have been mentioned had Cordy been around I don't think he could have made her leave. And I don't think he would have.
She had been in a battles before, she just like the rest of the AI team are experienced 'warriors'/fighters, whereas Nina was more or less a simple human (newly wolfed up perhaps but at that point she didn't seem particularly interested in the 'good fight' so to speak, so much as learning how to deal with her new wolfy facets).

I think Angel felt that Nina needed another level of protection from what was going to go down because of this, she wasn't battle ready. Not to mention that she had a family, I think he factored that in too.

That puts two of uf in the Nina Fan Club, maybe we should start scheduling monthly meetings,
I think Cordelia would have been the one team member who refused to sign on with Wolfram & Hart, and this would have caused a season-long rift between her and Angel. She might ultimately have been the one that convinced the others to finally turn against W&H.

I'm pretty sure any straight-up Cangel romance would have had to wait for season 6, if there was one.

I can see her that happening. Maybe she re-opens Angel Investigations with herself as the boss and guess who becomes the first new member of the team? Revamped Connor whose memories have been altered by Angel as a part of his deal with Wolfram and Hart.

Well if Cordy was still there in Season 5 instead of Nina I'm not sure a lot of it would have played out as it did.

Cordy has her visions which made he her. When she was in a Coma and so forth they had no connection the the powers that would have helped Angel.

With Cordy being there in Season 5 there wouldn't have been a "Power Play" because the plan itself would have been foiled since everyone would have known about it since Cordy would have told them since she herself didn't know anything.

THEN before any of that plays in there is Wolfram and Hart which would have been a problem for Cordy. She loved the hotel even if it was run down and so forth since it was a second home for her where she worked and had friends and co-workers but it never seemed anything like that because they weren't friends or co-workers they were more like family. With Wolfram and Hart it seemed that they became somewhat distanced since they weren't with each other working cases but instead working part of the case in there area away from everyone else which I would say Cordy wouldn't like since it would be a bit lonely for her.

But back to the point. If Cordy was in Season 5 things would have taken a different turn. Cordy would have woken from a coma and then she wouldn't have felt comfortable in the Wolfram and Hart building since it seemed that they wanted to take them down instead of work for them now.

THE KEY POINT TO CORDY DIEING is that she passed on her visions to Angel. Her only purpose was to come back and hand them over to Angel. She had one chance to do it and since the Powers "Owed her" they allowed it.

"Power Play" happened because Cordy died and gave him her visions in order to deal with what had to be dealt with. If the powers knew or not that the visions would have helped Angel.

See Angel having the Visions he would keep them to himself and as he found out small bits of information about it he began to deal with a plan since if anybody else knew what was going on it wouldn't have had worked like it did.

And I've grown tired of trying to explain myself and would go here because I don't need to explain the finally of Angel.

The problem is though if you think about re writing things like that ( as if she didnt have the pregnancy) then we wouldnt have connor or the visions leading up to that because (correct me if im wrong) but isnt the whole point the fact that it was all set in motion that she would give birth to Jasmine ages ago so connor was there for the miracle conception and the visions were there to connect her to the powers? i cant remember why...but im sure it comes out that they were all being groomed right from the off really..

Anyway back to the question lol I think she would have fought to the end. Angel would have annoyingly fell head over heels for her so they cant have sex anymore..which would show the curse REALLY is working well. I would have liked her to stay..why didnt she by the way?

This is true.
And no, I think she would've been fighting right alongside them in Not Fade Away, even if she couldn't physically be at that alley for some reason (one can't really imagine Cordelia of all people bloodied and soaked in an alley, but maybe that's just me) but she'd still be helping them. I believe this as well.

I'm not sure how she would have fit in with Wolfram and Hart, but then if she had been in season 4 properly without the pregnancy, then Lilah probably wouldn't have given them the offices. Either way I feel she should have been there at the end.

As far as I remember, seeing bits and pieces of this and that , originally Cordelia was supposed to be herself the big bad - an empty shell possessed by Jasmine ( later that plot was revisited with Fred - Illyria). Charisma's pregnancy made them rewrite the season so she gave birth to the big bad instead. I am afraid the end was supposed to be Angel being forced to kill Cordelia with his own hand. So, no, I do not think that other ending would have resulted in Cordelia staying for S5 - unless she was turned into some version of Illyria. Charisma herself explained her 'going bad' in one of her interviews - specifically mentioning that the continuous romance would have made everything boring ( that's Joss Whedon show folks - there cannot be a romance without pain). So, no, I don't think we would have seen her in bed with Angel in place of Nina - unless she would have been big bad again and was pretending to be Cordy. Sigh. I guess I am very pessimistic in my past projections - but that is what would have happened to any Angel's love interest in the end, according to JW.
