If Faith had been played by someone else?

Would it have been so good?

I think it would never have been AS good. Eliza just killed it in this role. But do you think another actor could have pulled it off so well or would we have seen a completely different Faith with different mannerisms and body language?

What do you think?
 
Certainly, a different actress would have created a different Faith, not necessarily better or worse, just different, and we would have obviously never have known any difference. On that note, I was watching this lately:

and I definitely believe that Summer could have been a fantastic Faith. Plus, she would have made Sarah really work her a** off so as not to be completely outclassed in their fight scenes.

I honestly don't feel as if Eliza's that great of an actress (some of the characters she played in Dollhouse were laughable haha), but she played Faith really well. However, I do believe that someone else may have been capable of playing her better. There are some actors who play certain characters perfectly. For example, I truly cannot picture anyone else as Giles or Willow.
 
I definitely think that I would not have loved the character as much if someone else played it. As it's been said she would have different movements, mannerisms etc and would have been a different character. I loved Eliza as Faith. Although Glau as Faith would have been interesting.
 
Like [MENTION=11753]ProphecyGirl65[/MENTION] I think Eliza is not a very good actress overall, but she pulls out Faith amazingly. She's meant to play Faith as the character was written. I'm not a very big fan of Eliza's, for personal reasons, but I wouldn't want someone else to play Faith.

Summer Glau, as amazing as I think she is, I don't see Faith in her. She doesn't seem bad enough. But her fighting skills are a-mazing, I'm so impressed by the clip WA put here.

Just to point out, Summer's training is in ballet (obviously) and not the martial arts. Almost invariably, dancers are as flexible as martial artists and can adapt to the choreographed fight scenes better. The best example of this is the late Patrick Swayze, who trained as a dancer from early childhood.

I think Eliza was a great Faith, but I don't think she's that good of an actress. If someone else got the role of Faith it might have been better. Though I can't think of any actress off the top of my head so I could be wrong 😛
 
I thought Eliza was adequate. She got the job done, but it never really amazed me.

I agree with [MENTION=6758]white avenger[/MENTION]. Summer is incredible at fight scenes, it's crazy. I think she could pull off the "bad" feel of Faith. I personally haven't seen a range in her acting ability, but I trust that she could.

I agree... I also agree with [MENTION=11693]Living Dead Boy[/MENTION] that Eliza is Faith; it's like she was born to play that role. I've seen Eliza in other roles and she doesn't convince me that she is the character nearly as well as when she's playing Faith.

Yeah, Faith is one of my favourite characters but I'm not entirely certain that another actor couldn't have done a better job. I think it's the writing and the arc that at least make the character, perhaps the largest contingent in the case of Faith. Eliza has a lot of presence, enough to carry her own series but I think it's presumptious to say she couldn't have been replaced.
 
I think Eliza as Faith was amazing! As Living Dead Boy said she IS Faith! Her attitude, her mannerisms, her voice, its all from Eliza! I dont think anyone could have done it as well! Even when SMG acts as Faith in "Where Are You?" she is acting Eliza's mannerisms as Faith. You can see bits of Eliza in the way she moves her face, in some of her phrases! Thats how closely connected Eliza and Faith are! Eliza makes the character, she really does!

We can always say, what if: different actors for any character. With the Faith we love, she could have been replaced with anyone before she was cast. Then we would love that woman to play Faith. True, Faith is taller and has more of the body type that would make her a better fighter than Buffy (in theory, not in practice). With the amount of women in Sci-fi during the 1990’s I cannot really pick anyone to replace her with. Sure Jessica Alba would be more of an ideal replacement: but she was more in shows and movies of the 2000’s not the 1990’s.
 
Well, Willow could have say become a Slayer. Would Willow be better as a Slayer then Faith?
 
I think Eliza is a good actress definitely as good as Sarah or David or alyson. I've seen everything Eliza has been in so I've seen her range and I think she is a good actress. Some roles were terrible but some she really brought to life. Is she an outstanding actress? No. But she is good. She does a wonderful job as Faith. She brought Faith to life. I can't imagine anyone else as Faith. The character wouldn't have been the same. She was also really good as Echo. It's challenging to play so many characters while still being one character. I think Dollhouse and Faith are perfect examples of just how good Eliza is.

No. Willow was a bad ass witch. That was who she was meant to be. Although it was enjoyable to watch her beat the pants off Buffy in "Two to go" 😉
