If Firefly wasn't cancelled and went on as long as Angel or Buffy, how do you see the rest of the show unfolding in terms of character and plot?

Obviously I think that the main plot of Serenity would have been like, at least a season. Or perhaps a longer arc than that with other stand alone episodes and more depth to it etc.

& going into shepheard book's past.

Mal & Inara would get together and I don't know what.

Wash wouldn't die and him and Zoe would have beautiful babies.

If Firefly wasn't cancelled...the world would be a better place.

As BDH stated - I think the Serentiy plot would be a Season and hopefully, they wouldn't kill Wash or Book if the show continued...perhaps it ending with Book returning to the ship.

Zoe and Wash would find out they couldn't have babies, despite trying - perhaps causing a rift as they fly through the sky. They will, inevitably, make up.

Mal and Inara keep the tease going but never end up together.

Wash would still die eventually since he and Zoe were happy. They probably would find out they couldn't have kids, then she'd find out she was miraculously pregnant right after he dies.

That sounds so evil that it just might have happened!
Well,
Wash was already set to die in season 2, and Zoe is pregnant in the comic that takes place after Serenity. So we'd have that to look forward to

I think because of the chemistry between the cast, Serenity wouldn't have the same pitfalls Buffy/Angel had in terms of the characters barely connecting (as was the case with Buffy) after awhile.

A girl called cait would join the crew and tame jaynes heart and then the two of them would get married and live happily ever after.

I'm not sure I got what you meant there. You were talking about Firefly, not Serenity(the movie), right? And what about Buffy's and Angel's tv shows? Characters didn't connect after awhile, what?

As for the OT... I hope it would have went more into details about River's character. Also expanded on these 'blue hands' dudes! They creeped the hell out of me.

In Serenity, Wash is killed and a lot of people were going "WHY", but I believe Whedon said that Wash would've been killed in season 2, regardless. In the comics that take place after Serenity, Zoe is pregnant with Wash's daughter. So yeah, Wash still would've died but Zash/Woe (?) would've still had a bitter-sweet ending

And maybe I shouldn't have talked about Angel, but with Buffy the characters the group bond fell apart as the seasons wore on. I don't believe that would've happened with the Firefly crew because the casts' chemistry was so amazing that it would've translated into the group dynamic and it would never feel oddly tense.

Oh, I get what you mean. Damn Joss and his love for killing characters when they're coupled and happy. 🙄

As for BtVS, yes they had some rough patches(mainly in s4-s6), but I think they still had a good bond in s7. They just didn't have time to show it much since the freaking potentials and Spuffy were the main focus in that season.

The Serenity's crew would have probably been tight for a while, I agree. But, I'd have expected some of them to fall apart at some point in the story. No way they all stay happy forever with Joss at the helm. 😉

Ain't that the truth. I wouldn't be surprised if Kaylee was the next to go after Shepherd Book and Wash.

Do any of you think that Simon would have undergone the same kind of character development Wesley underwent from a bit of a wimp to a hardcore badass?

Best.

Idea.

Ever.

Simon going from wimpy Doctor to badass would have been an amazing development. Developing the dark side of Simon's personality could have led to some interesting story arcs. I mean, the man developed a detailed, plan to break his sister out - he has a devious / scheming side.

One of the things that would need to happen for Simon to become a badass would be for him to separate from River who he's been dependent on for some time. He needs to learn to live life without becoming her his sole responsibility.

Which is kind of what happened at the end of Serenity. Using Serenity as a basis for Season 2, only stretched out, could lay a foundation for a badass Simon.

Anyone think they would've given a different and more gradual reveal of the Reapers' origins? Though, come to think of it, I barely remember what the movie revealed about them anymore, just that I wasn't feeling it at the time.

How do you guys the show would have ended if it had allowed to go on past Season 1? With the Alliance's downfall? Mal's death? The destruction of Serenity? All of the above?

I think the film's storyline would have been longer...more drawn out, perhaps in Season 2 or perhaps across 2 seasons. I think this climax would reveal the Reaver's background and would be an awesome reveal. A more drawn out version - lengthier version of the film Serenity could have been epic. Turning it into an entire season of Firefly would have been awesome.

Considering
Wash and Book died
I think the show would end with
Inara's death, considering it was revealed by Morena that Inara was dying

After that, it would basically damage two of the major characters emotionally. The entire crew would be messed up, it'd have to end because it'd be too sad to continue.
