If I formed my own band....

I was really thinking these past couple of weeks. I really need to start getting on with my life. My (so called) band that I'm in have recently decided to seperate before the end of the year (mutually, of course), because of different situations and phases in our lives. So I've decided it's time to start looking for a band. Maybe put out some classifieds, "Energetic frontman looking to join a band" kinda deal. Or I should try to form my own. My musical tastes have always be broad as the sea, so it's kinda hard to narrow down, but I'm getting there. I always wanted kind of a hybrid band, one that spans different genres. I've listed some of my favorite bands and current inspirations below, because that's the sound that I'm going for, and plus they play and toy with their genres as well. If my band were to go with these sounds, would you listen to us? All seriousness here. Really needing some motivation. 😀

Absolutely!
But you know, whoever you might sound like, if you're committed to it (ie work really hard) and you love what you do, the audience will hear that and respond to it positively!
(At least that's what I always tell myself.) 🙂

Have you given any thought on a solo career? Either way I love that style and I'd listen. I would love it if you were given motivation and I seriously support you, I think it's very cool to have a band. One thing I'll say though, try finding your own style rather than duplicating others. Try to stand out somehow. It can be by style, a gimmick, lyrics, show, etc. Because as much as the examples above are good, they've been done.

By the way, what was the name of the band?

I would totally be interested to hear the sound of a band influenced by those bands. So you're the singer? Energy is always good in the frontman. And yeah, like GumGnome said, if you are really passionate about what you are making, if you really feel it, people will get into that. And it's something that has been really lacking in music lately, and people miss it. I think that's half the reason Adele got so popular. . . and Jack White. It's obvious that they feel what they are doing. That's the most important thing. You have to believe in it.

Strangely enough I'm in a band that's just starting out and it's pretty heavily influenced by Sublime and the Chili Peppers. Especially in the bass. Though we're also influenced by Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Jack White, Led Zeppelin and Jefferson Airplane. Yeah, go figure THAT one out. lol
