If it was the end of the world, end of humanity. Would you rather die with the entire race, or be the only person standing (if you ignore the problem of not being able to... make new people by yourself)?

I think staying the only person in the world, besides it being boring, is terrifing. No one to turn to, no one to hold your hand. Have no purpose or path to walk in. It's simply being alone alone. I couldn't do that. I'd rather die with the rest.

I'd rather die with the rest. I would be so lonely. I mean, I like being by myself, but I still need to know that my family and friends are there when I need them.

And presumably the rest of the world is in shambles by then, so it might not be so fun to be stuck in the midst of rubble and dead bodies. Like, ew...😛

I woud want to be the last person. I mean how cool would that be?!? All of those stores that were not destroyed open for the picking? Being Queen of the world? Making up my own rules, that would be awsome. Also you don't need a human friend, I am sure you coud find a cat or dog to be your friend.

It depends on the day. On one hand, I would love to rebuild the world in my image... I used to dream of being royalty not so I could wear dresses or go to balls, but so I could be a leader and make the world a better place.

But I would get depressed SOOOO easily.

The end of the world is something I think about disturbingly often! I blame it on my love of a.) zombie movies and b.) Stephen King apocalypse books.

OccaQuokka, my mum and I actually had a 4 hour conversation one Friday night on facebook about how we would survive a zombie takeover of Perth. It was a pretty intense plan, focussing on canoes and horses.

I guess I just picture myself as some sort of heroic image in army fatigues and a sexy white tank top kicking some serious butt with some equally awesome people.

So the answer to the question is basically - yes, I want to be a survivor! I think I would probably get a bit bored though if I was literally the only person left. I would need at least a couple of people to help the build the world up again with.

Hell no. "Quiet Earth" or "I Am A Foot", anyone? I'd go even madder than I already am.

Seriously, I've said loads of times that if a world-killer asteroid ever hits Earth, I hope it'll strike right at the German-Dutch border so I can be sure I'll be among those who die immediately, not forced to make do in the post-apocaplyptic rubble as one of the few survivors...

I'd want to be the last one standing. I'm lonely most of the time anyway so it wouldn't make a difference to me. It would be cool to have achieved that though, to be the only survivor out of everyone. You could do whatever you wanted, though food would probably be an issue depending on the circumstances.

I absolutely wouldn't want to be the only survivor. One of a few? Yes. Who cares if I have free reign over the world if I have no one to appreciate it with me. And then what? How long could I realistically enjoy being alone with no hope that I would ever meet another person again or that when I died that humankind died? If I'm going to survive an apocalypse, I am going to need to find a buddy to share post-apocalyptic life with. As that is impossible in this scenario, I'd like to just die quickly.

OccaQuokka is your mum!! I did not know that!

Speaking of.. when does that movie come out.. mind is wrecked.. the movie based on the books. you know which one. grrr

As long as I did not need medical attention I would not mind being the last person alive. I think over the years you actually would go quite mad, which could be fun.

I think the novelty of the situation of being the only survivor would be interesting at first, but then if you really were the only one left, it would soon turn to boredom I think with madness close on the heels of this. I would still like to carry on though to see how it plays out, because you would probably expect and hope in that situation if you searched hard enough you'd find some other survivors like they always seem to in movies about this kind of thing. (E.g. The Stand, I am Legend)
