If Joss & Co. had went along with the original plan

If Joss & Mutant Enemy had went along with the original plan for season 4, Cordelia going evil on her own (without Jasmine & the mystical pregnancy etc) and Cordy using her fighting techniques that Angel tought her in season 3 against Angel, would you had respected this season more? I know 99% of the fan base hates this season.

Sorry if this doesn't make sense
 
Well it was still going to be Jasmine in Cordy I believe it was just they wrote in the pregnancy as a way to bring forth Jasmine instead of her just posessing Cordy all season.

But I dont think I would have liked that any better.
 
No, because Cordy would never have gone evil on her own. If it were her using her fighting techniques to fight alongside Angel against another Big Bad, sure.

No, because it would have been totally out of character for Cordelia to go evil. Yeah, she's been mean at times, but at her heart she's not an evil person and I'd be sad to see her corrupted like that.
 
First reaction is what most have said already, but I'm interested on how they hade try and made it work. Why would Cordelia go evil? I know way too little to make a good decision.

The "Cordy using her fighting techniques that Angel tought her in season 3 against Angel" thing I'm not so sure of. Yes, Cordy has become a much better fighter but good enough to defeat Angel? The only thing in her favour would be that Angel wouldn't want to hurt her. Nothing else.

Never say never, there are ways. For example if, good people can be corrupted if enough bad things happend them.

Not that we know enough to be able to tell anything. I mean, calling Angel evil in season 2 is possible, so evil doesn't have to be that evil.

Or, like someone said above, Jasmine would have possessed Cordelia differently, making it not Cordelia who was evil.

There was a lot of reasons I didn't like this season, Cordelia getting knocked up not the biggest one, so I think a lot of things would have to change to make happy.
 
Yes. I think it would have been much more interesting. However, Jasmine herself is the least of the things I hate about this season. Mainly what I can't stand is the grandure leading up to Jasmine's birth. The blotting out the sun, the beast, the all of it. It's exhausting and not exciting and really dull and then you expect it to be this big giant thing and it's Jasmine. I would have rathered it be The First (which I thought is where they were going, although in hindsight, I should have known it wasn't because I did watch Buffy in it's entirety first). But I still don't think I would have liked all the build up. Which I guess would be gone without Jasmine... I don't know... I'd have to see it to decide. But I think so.

Yes, I think Cordy going off on her own would have been fascinating. And hey, we didn't think Willow would go evil at the start of things, the writer's could have accomplished it if they wanted to (hopefully in a believable / interesting manner) and then maybe we would have gotten a redemption arc for Cordy... I like it.
 
How would they have made Cordelia evil? What could they possibly have done? KILL Angel? Cause that's pretty much all I can see doing it!

Well I don't think she would have killed Angel or Angel would have killed her either way, but the threat of it would have provided great emotion and anguish to the show. And I'm sure it would have been interesting getting to see them making it back after such an arc (I love season 4 so you can probably tell that I love epic story telling, it should big, well written and dramatic. Cordelia - the real Cordy - evil would probably be one of the most dramatic things I can imagine for Ats 🙂)
 
I'm kind of sick of people turning evil and redemption storylines, to be honest. BtVS already started it with Faith, Angel, Spike, Willow... And AtS is basically built around redemption. I mean, it's great and all, but it would be superfluous for there to be yet another story along those lines. If it's necessary, like with Spike who started out evil, then sure. Good person turning evil? Filled your quota with Wesley (though not evil evil). But it would be overdramatic and redundant for Cordy.

No. I meant how could they have made her evil? The PTB letting Angel die, or killing him is all I could see making her lose it.
 
I think the Jasmine arc at the end of the season was absolutely awesome... so unless Cordy would've gone through the "Shiny Happy People" routine, herself, I would probably have liked the end result a lot less.

Yes, I'm one of those few who loves S4 despite it having more holes than a slice of Swiss Cheese. 😉 At least it had a captivating plot (unlike the far inferior S5) - arc-wise, S4 was the best season of the entire show to me; it just suffered from detail inconsistencies (from which it suffered heavily on rewatch, I'm not gonna deny that).
 
Well I think Cordy going evil would have been kinda interesting, perhaps even more so if it was of her own will. What would be the reason for her choosing to do evil things, to basically go against everything she stood for on the show you know... If done well, it could have been great. The Jasmine thing was stupid, though.
 
The whole pregnancy thing was brought in because Charisma was actually pregnant at the time.

I could see Cordy going evil though. Personally I'd view it that the demon she had to become would start influencing her decisions. I mean Willow didnt start using magic till season 3 and she only went evil in season 6. Cordy's visions didnt start doing real damage until season 3 and she got them in season 1, so that development of evil influence from the demon could happen over an arc.

I'm glad, as a Bangel, that they didnt do this storyline though, because no matter how well the writters wrote it, I would always compare it to the Bangel scenes in Becoming and I just cant see that being beaten.

I hate Bangel, and I still agree with your last sentence - against the pure awesomeness that's "Becoming", it would have been near impossibly hard to compete! :)

I totally agree with you, I'm one of those fans who loves season 4 as well. I do think that Joss should've gotten over his resentment at Charisma and done more with Cordy this season. I mean for godsake she spent 1/2 of it in a coma! How humiliating for an actor!

I do agree it would've been interesting to see what plot developed with Cordy & Doyle.

And yes I suppose they didn't need to play that Cordy was pregnant, many other shows hide pregnancy, but not always well.

Glad to know someone else besides me enjoys season 4 🙂, season 5 was pretty good only issues was it went back to single episode format like season 1 and really only the last 2 episodes and some bits here and there made up the overall arc of s 5

What was the plan to bring doyle back and how since Gleen Quinn had passed away ?
 
ok,exaggerate much? lol 99% did not hate it,most liked it,especially the hardcore fans,but the "come and go "fans weren't so thrilled with it because it was easy to get lost if you missed a couple episodes. and i LOVED it 🙂
