Say that, for whatever reason, Joss needed to keep Jenny alive beyond Passion but he still needed a significant death to occur in that episode. Who do you think it should have been and how differently do you think the end of the season would have gone in that case?

yeah, i read something about them killing Oz instead...not sure what it would have done to the show. i think it was WAY too early for Willow to become gay...i don't know, maybe the Xander/Willow ship would have kicked off a season early?

Plus, I'm not sure that Oz would have had the emotional impact that would have been needed. He and Willow were barely dating and his ties to the Scoobies were still fairly weak. Whilst everyone would have been sad that it had happened I don't see it having the effect that Jenny's death did.

I'm new to the board, could someone please tell me how post my own topic, I have no idea...

Hey there. To post your own thread just click on the new thread button just below this post, but only if the thread you want to post relates to Buffy season 2. Otherwise go to the section of the board that you do want to post in (for example the check in section to introduce yourself) and click on the new thread button in there.

Hope that helps. 🙂

Hmm...if they wanted the death to super-impact Buffy they could've killed Joyce. But that would drastically change the charater and nobody would've wanted that. Bring Amy back and kill her? Harmony?

Oh God! I was in pain when Jenny died! She was Giles true love! Complete opposites! But no one elses death would of made major impact. If it was Joyce it would be too soon and then I think in S3 that Angel would of stayed with Buffy in Sunnydale. And I agree on with what you said about OZ. It wou;dn't of really been emotional. Now, maybe if it were XAnder then everyone would of been really hurt, or Giles.

your banner is sooo sweet!
Hey, I would have been devastated if they killed Oz then! But I know most people wouldnt be. It was too early to kill Angel too. There isnt really anyone that would have worked. maybe Cordy since her and Xander were together then, but even that wouldnt have had the same impact.

Well, Angel was already dead... I mean, back then, no one knew that he'd get his soul back, die and resurrect 😛. Besides, Angelus was the one who had to take care of the killing thing. Angelus breaking Angel's neck would have looked weird... Like, breaking his own neck. Crazy 😛.

If they would have killed Cordy, I would have been devastated. She became so important in the Buffyverse so having her die would have been a drag. I wonder who would have moved on to LA with Angel if she would have died??

Anyway, if they were planning on killing someone other than Jenny, I would have to say Oz. Everyone else in the cast was too important to kill off. They could have also offed Joyce but having Buffy lose her mom that early would have been depressing.

I think Oz would have... And to complete Angel Investigations, they would have created a female character instead of Doyle.

OK. With hindsight Cordy is a VERY important character in the verse, but had they killed her there, it wouldn't have been a big deal.

As for who would have gone to L.A. well Oz would never have been an option because of Seth Greens plans.

I think they would have created a new character in season 3 Buffy to go with Angel, maybe even Anya or to an extent Faith.

Jenny was the only one that they could kill that would be really really important and devastating to the audience and characters yet at the same time not stop the shows progress.

It was the only decision that would've been right, I mean, killing Giles or Xander would destroy the rest of the show.

I think it should have been Oz. But I also don't think it should have been Oz. I don't know cause there aren't very many people that you can kill/take of the show and the show still be interesting. Jenny is one of the those characters where you can kill off and the show still be good. So, I think they should keep Jenny!!

Not to rain on anyone's parade here, but I think killing off Jenny was a pretty good idea. Of all the regular characters, she contributed the least to the real storyline. Granted, she spent a lot of time flirting with Giles, but I don't remember her contributing a tremendous bit to the real action of the show until it was revealed that she was really a Gypsy spy sent to keep tabs on Angel. I mean, really, just what the heck is a "cyber pagan" anyhow?

If there were going to be someone else chosen to be killed, though, how about Hank Summers? They could've done a couple of episodes where Hank comes back, says he's learned his lesson, had his middle aged fling, and beg Joyce and Buffy to forgive him and take him back. Things would be beginning to look really great for Buffy as her parents begin to reconcile and to slowly put the bad times behind them. Everybody is thrilled for Buffy, there are hints o an outdoor wedding in the park followed by a romantic honeymoon cruise in the Caribbean, then...BANG! Angel does his slurpy thing (maybe even turns Hank so that Buffy has to stake him to save Joyce) and we're smack dab in the center of Devastation Central, with Jenny standing by on the sidelines still flirting with Giles while Buffy sweeps Hank up in a dust pan....And the show goes on.

i like that hank idea. it sounds like it would have made an interesting arc.
I can see why they needed to kill Jenny - but I hate, hate, HATED to see her go. Jenny freakin' ROCKED. (She was hot, too.)

I can see why they killed her as well....but I loved Jenny. She helped out a lot. She did contribute to the team alot. The ways she did it may not seem big at first but later on they payed off. If she hadn't saved the files on the disk that they found in her room with the spell to re-ensoul Angel, then there wouldn't have been an ATS....................

lol, i remember being pissed when S2 started and Robia Lamore, wasn't added to the main credits. it just seemed to me that she was there to stay.
then i saw 'Passion' and it was like...OH! that's why!!
