If S8 was on tv

"A few of the main cast, and that's it"? The only characters from the main cast not returning would be Anya and Spike, and I'm not certain that Spike would have not been there if a Season 8 weren't planned. Then there's Faith, who could have a whole story arc centered around whether she should return to prison or stay and help train the new Slayers who would be popping up all over the place, and then there's her relationship with Buffy and the gang. Would she begin to fit in, or remain an outsider?
Xander's grief over losing Anya would have to be dealt with, and the Willow/Kennedy thing would have to be worked out one way or another.
Giles would probably not be around that much, what with rebuilding the Watchers' Council, and Andrew would probably be working with him.
Wood was in pretty bad shape after the final battle, so his recovery and his relationship with Faith would be in there somewhere. Do the Potentials from Season 7 stay to be trained, or go away, either to their own duty stations or to help recover other new Slayers ? Buffy and Dawn would have to face being literally homeless, and the issue of whether Hank would finally accept his responsibilities as a father would come into play.
Spike and Buffy would have a whole set of personal issues to work out if the "I love you" scene were left in, considering the fact that his sacrifice would have been somehow avoided.
And then, just to add spice to the mix, the whole crew would have to set up a whole new base of operations ,but then, with the fact that there were a Season 8, there might still be a Sunnydale...
Aside from all of those issues, there would be the small point of the season's Big Bad and the yearly Apocalypse...
Yeah, you're right. Joss had written himself into a corner there with the ending of Season 7. He would be hard pressed to find anything to write about for Season 8. I guess we're lucky it ended where it did, since there just wasn't any more story to tell...
Oh, I've got an idea. How about we have some sort of love triangle with Spike, Buffy, and Faith, then we could rekindle the feud between Wood and Spike, with the added fuel to the flame complication that Wood's now jealous of Spike for breaking up his cuddle fest with Faith, so he starts up a relationship with Rona and gets busted for child molestation, then he makes a bargain with some demon master to get revenge, maybe D'Hoffran, Anya's old boss, and they could form an alliance to take over the world...

Yea youre right. And i mean think about it who would be the big bad even if Sunndayle hadnt blown up.
All these characters are pretty original it would be interesting to see a big bad Joss didnt cover.

He pretty much covered everything. Hed have to start bringing back old characters like in S8comic like Amy and Ethan Rayne. That would be an interesting couple to see raise hell though a witch and a sorcerrer. Id imagine Ethan would be alot more powerful than since S8 and learned a couple of new tricks. He could try and manipulate Amy into killing the scoobis and Willow and her could have a big battle in the season finale . Thats probably how it would go. After that he would have to start makin up new people because Drusilla would most likely be on Angel considering Spike and Angel are in LA.

I still think D'Hoffryn would make a good Big Bad. He's evolved from just a more or less sinister demon into a really powerful and menacing figure since he was first introduced, and lets not forget that he has a bunch of vengeance demons working for him. They could make up a formidable force.
Thats a brilliant idea. I think he would come back and Buffy and the scoobies would confront him in an interesting way.The story could go something like this Buffy eventually crosses paths with him because they obviously dont wor for the same side. He could go full out on her saying since you were associated with anyanka i never hought of killing her because i respected her so much because of her good work even after she chose to stray away from me but now since shes not here theres nothing holding me back. Obviously Willow would have to be the main source of protection but it be an interesting battle . I would like to see the crew travel to his dimension maybe something Pylea-esque because that looks like some place he would resign but to avoid repeating the same thing i would shoot for something different like well idk what do you think? lol
Also who else in the BTVS universe is alive that can play the part of bigbad?

I don't think Joss wrote himself into a corner, really, I mean I doubt they had every story detail worked out by the time SMG announced she wanted to end the show. Because if they did, that would just be weird. From episode one of season seven the show took on this FEEL, IMO, that said "The end is coming". It has the feel of a final season, and not in a bad way (it's probably my favorite season, actually).
Although if a televised season eight would've been anything like the comics, I'm glad they didn't do it. Mainly because it would have looked horrible with such a tiny budget.
