If SMG hadn't of been Buffy

We all know that Sarah had to actively pursue the role of Buffy after the people casting thought she made a better Cordelia. My question is this: if SMG hadn't of got the role of Buffy who would you personally like to see? Or who do you think would have done the role justice?
 
Well, I know that Katie Holmes and Julie Benz were considered. They thought Katie was too tall and Julie too old.

Personally, I think many a young actress could have pulled off the role. SMG was a great choice, though, because she was young and had experience doing soap operas, so she could do dramaand angst well.
 
Agreed. I can't really see anyone but SMG playing the role. It's much like Aly playing Willow. That pilot episode was just....yeah. Thank goodness they ended up casting Willow. As for Buffy, SMG does her perfectly. So much in fact that if they ended up casting Kristy again for the show, it wouldn't have been the success it was then (and now)

A lot of people say they'd want to see Heather Morris play Buffy. I disagree. Maybe Dianna Agron. But honestly, no one does it better than SMG
 
Summer Glau is at least as good an actor as Sarah, and can do a fantastic fight scene

I have no doubt whatsoever that she could have handled the role quite well.
 
I seriously cannot imagine anyone else playing Buffy. SMG is perfect.

For the reboot, I think Hayden Panettiere would be a great choice. But I can't find anyone who could have pulled it off like SMG in the show.
 
I used to think I could never see anyone else as Buffy but I've recently started watching The Big Bang Theory and I think Kayley Couco (Penny) would be perfect. Actually, I pretty much think Penny is Buffy. They are just so alike to me; their mannerisms, demeanour, attitude...everything.

Yeah, there was something about her the first time that I saw her that reminded me of Sarah, something beyond the just the size and hair color, but I never could really figure out just what it was.

Slightly off track of this thread, but also somewhat relevant, has anyone heard anything lately about the new Buffy movie, or has the idea been completely abandoned by now?
 
I read somewhere a few months ago that they had asked Vanessa Hudgens to do it and she'd turned it down because it felt wrong considering the enormity of twilight and other various vampire themed TV programmes.

It annoyed me a bit because Buffy came first and now it's been shoved under the carpet in favour of Twilight and True Blood. None of which IMO match up to Buffy on any scale or are even remotely similar (accept for the vamps, of course)

That is so ridiculous. Twilight ruined everything. -_- Well, look on the bright side, at least Vanessa Hudgens won't play Buffy. That'd be worse than no Buffy reboot.

blonde leighton meester would have made an excellent buffy. Her appearance in entourage showed the lighter side of her acting and gossip girl proves that she has the acting chops to do drama and inner turmoil.

Leighton is pretty much the only actress that i would be happy with.

the only other girl that i could see pulling it off would be the blonde girl from pretty little liars... Cant think of her name...

As far as willow goes how about the preppy girl from ppl? Or the asian girl from glee?

(take away my google and im totally a lot of useless)

I agree 100%, I can't imagine Buffy without Sarah Michelle being in it. Also I really hope they aren't still toying around the reboot idea 🙁

She and SMG were at about the same caliber back when Buffy premiered. I think she has improved over the years more than SMG, comparing her work on Breakout Kings to SMG's on Ringer.
