Since Spike was originally only going to be in the second season, what do you think would happen if Spike never came back to Sunnydale... which would result in there never being any sexual feelings between him and Buffy.

Thoughts?

I think if Spike never came back to Sunnydale then Angel would be super dead dead because he would have helped Buffy in season 7 and would have been the one to have the amulet unless Wolfram and Hart stepped in to put a stop to it. I dont like to think of a world like this.

Good point.
Well for one I think season four would have really been lacking in something; a huge hole in the plot as well as a lot of comic relief.

And obviously without Spike, Buffy and Riley might have panned out differently. I think their relationship would have become (even more) destructive. I think this would have been the relationship where Buffy explored her feelings about her death and resurrection which would have eventually still led to the same end as it did in season five.

Also, I don't think Wood would have been quite so interesting. He might not have even really had much place without the back story of Spike and his mother. It certainly wouldn't have been as effective without Spike actually being present.

That's all I can think of for now.

Hmmm. I think the show would be boring, because Spike is a great character, with the best lines in the show. That's one thing. I know I would be happy if that Spuffy thing never happened, but in one way I'm happy it did, because of that Buffy became bigger person. And I do think Angel would be dead now because he would be the champion, so I'm glad Spike was back. I one hand of course.

Riley would have almost certainly left anyhow, under about the same circumstances as they were presented in Season 5. He had just plain run his course, and had little if anything more to contribute to the general story line. Some new character would have been introduced, or an old one brought back maybe Faith, if they could have figured out some way to get her out of prison. Things could have worked out pretty much the same with Faith there instead of Spike through Seasons 4 through 7, although I'm almost certain that they would have never have become lovers. I would hate to have seen Faith burn up at the end of Season 7, but, once again, she could have transferred over to "Angel" and substituted for Spike quite well. She would have had to aggravate someone other than Angel there, since they were friends. Connor might have worked for that, if they could have brought him back much earlier and made him a regular through Season 5.
