If Tara Came Back

We've seen on several occasions that death doesn't have to be the final answer in the Buffyverse. Buffy has died twice, Spike definitely once, Angel possibly once, Darla twice. Thw Master was almost resurrected. My point being that it would not be inconceivable that, at some point, probably not in Season 8, but maybe in Season 9 or even late. Now, if and when that did happen, what do you think would happen to Willow's relationship with Kennedy? In Season 7, there would have been no doubt in my mind, and I would have been one of the first to stand up and cheer. I saw nothing in Kennedy's character or actions that would have made me lose a moment's sleep from seeing her kicked out.

In Season 8, however, we have seen Kennedy portrayed as a responsible, mature, heroic young Slayer, hardly the brat from her Potential days. She's grown up, and what's more, she's apparently grown up into a better person, someone worthy of Willow's love.

So, who would you think that Willow would choose now if Tara were to return?
 
I was a fan of Kennedy in Season 7, I never had a problem with her. I liked her and Willow together.

But I think if Tara came back Kennedy would be out the door.

Or I think if she came back, Willow would immediately go for Tara, maybe after the initial rush, she may try and be responsible and I think the new mature Kennedy would let her go.

I can't provide a link to the resource but several years ago a read on a couple different sites (so I tend to believe it) that Willow wasn't supposed to have a romatic connection in season 7. Rather that in the episodes right before the finale Buffy was given one life altering wish and she spent the episode debating it. Angel being human, her having more strength...but the episode ended with her stepping in Willow's doorway and Willow asking her what she wished for and Buffy says shoes with heals that don't break. And Willow asks if that's what she really wished for and Buffy says no silly and steps aside and there's Tara.

I know the writing of Joss....but I do like the thought of this a lot so I do like to think it was a real possiblility.

THat is true. I read about it at the time. I wish that is what they had done. Twillow is my fav actually ship. (with Spangel being my fav fanfic ship)

Yeah, I've read that before. I think it was just something they discussed though, never really truly considered doing.

I've read that too on several sites. It definitely wasn't fanfiction. That would've been so sweet of Buffy.

EDIT: I found this on the Buffy Wikipedia. I know wiki isn't a very reliable source but it says it's from Joss at a fan convention so it sounds pretty reliable;

While speaking at the Wizard World Chicago Convention in August 2004, Joss Whedon claimed that he had planned to bring Tara back from the dead at the end of Season Seven. According to Whedon, the episode would have centered around Buffy being granted one "life-altering" wish. Buffy would have spent the whole episode trying to decide what she wanted to do with the wish (including, possibly, restoring Angel's humanity). The episode would have ended with Buffy telling Willow that she'd just gotten a great new pair of shoes, and when Willow asked her if she used up her wish on new shoes, Buffy would have said, "No, silly!" and stepped aside to reveal Tara. This plan was abandoned when Amber Benson was unavailable for filming. At the 2007 Comic-Con, he referred to this idea as well.

Still believe that Tara can do and deserves better.
 
I defiantly think Willow would chose Tara of Kennedy. Tara is the love of her life. She chose Tara over Oz. That alone says something. I think Tara needs to be brought back and they need to get back together. They were the best couple that BTVS has ever Sean.
 
Well, I can't stand Willow so, I'd prefer that if Tara came back that they didn't get together. BUT, I could definitely see Willow choosing Tara over Kennedy. After all, they were very much in love, but things that changed - perhaps we're missing the point - would Tara even want to be with Willow anymore?

I think Tara would get back with her but I also think it would be a very stupid thing to do.
Am I the only one here who thinks Tillow is over? I love Tillow, but I can see Willow choosing Kennedy over Tara. They're happy now. I think Willow loves Kennedy more and more everyday. And if Tara came back, it would take more than a few years for Willow to make a decision. And then, I really can see Tara let Willow go.
 
I think if Tara was brought back, Willow would drop Kennedy in a second for Tara, but I don't think that Tara would be willing to be with Willow. After all, if she found out about all Willow did after Tara's death in S6, I think she'd be terrified and I think something inside her would know that she isn't good for Willow, and Willow isn't good enough to be with her.

Wow, I'm kind of shocked. This is such a great idea, so I can't believe it didn't at least make it into Season Eight...

I think it's a little silly that "Angel being human" was even in the running since at that time, that would've screwed Angel over and meant his sudden death 😛

I also think this is a little inappropriate. I don't believe Buffy would have even went there in terms of wishes, I can see her wishing for the clause in the curse to not exist, simply for his own peace of mind, but I can't imagine Buffy wishing him human. She wouldn't make that decision without speaking to him.

I also don't believe she would have brought Tara back, in fact I would assume she would have been doggedly against it. She experienced the worst year of her life after being pulled out of Heaven, I don't for a second believe she would do that to Tara, or her mother for that matter.

Bottom line, all these wishes were decisions that would have been incredibly selfish on Buffy's part and I think she would have understood that better than anyone having been repeatedly on the recieving end of people choosing the course her life took without consulting her.

It's a nice idea, would make a great fic, but I'm delighted it was never canon.
 
I really didn't like Kennedy the first time I watched season 7, but she grew on me. I think I had a problem with Willow being with someone else than Tara, and that made me not like Kennedy. But I got used to it, and kinda realized that her relationship with Kennedy doesn't diminish what she had with Tara.

I can definitely see that too! That doesn't mean that Willow didn't love Tara as much though, yea it probably would be very confusing for her if Tara came back, but I can't see her just letting Kennedy go.
 
I think Willow would definately ditch Kennedy for Tara, no question!

I always personally sort of took what The First told Willow in Conversations With Dead People to be true... That Tara would have forgiven Willow, I mean. I'd like to think that, anyway.

I loved Tara, but am I the only one who thinks that she was only really there for Willow? I mean, what else would she do if she came back?

I don't know, as of AtF & BS8, I think Tara's one of the few members of the Scooby Gang who can actually be useful to the Good Fight. Buffy's a moron (sleeping with a Sociopath Murderer) and a thief, (Tw)Angel is a murderer, Willow's destined to be hugely evil, so I think Tara's goodness would be a huge help.

In the same way, I HOPE Spike will once again point out the hypocrisy of the Scooby Gang, and help put them back on track. Since Spring 2010, I no longer like who Buffy & Angel have become, so I think the more pure heroes returning like Spike or Tara or Cordy could only help the story, and the characters...

About the only possible circumstance that I could imagine Buffy either having a hand in personally or allowing anyone else to consider bringing Tara back (or Anya, or her mother, or Spike, or anyone else who she cared about) would be if she could somehow determine that that person actually was in some sort of hell dimension or place of torture. In that case, I believe that she would try to get them back.

If it DID happen, however, I think that Tara would most likely simply determine that Willow was happy, then leave without ever letting Willow or anyone else know that she was back.
 
The life altering wish episode had the potential to be a very special episode. The angst Buffy could have gone through in determining what to wish for would have made for an intriquing episode. A shame it never happened.
 
I can't see Willow telling immediately Kennedy to get lost no matter how much she loved Tara. Remember New Moon Rising? She had loved Oz and didn't tell Tara to go away, and remember the end? Tara said she'd be Willow's friend no matter who she picked, but in the end she'd end up going back to Tara anyway. They were so much in love.
