If Tara hadn't died ..?

If Tara hadn't died, and if Joss didn't habitually kill all good relationships, do you think the relationship between Tara and Willow could have lasted in the long run?

I was listening to OMWF on You Tube whilst spring cleaning earlier this morning, and started thinking about this. For the moment, I've landed on "no". They both represented something the other needed just then, but my gut feeling is that as they both matured they would be better suited to life with different partners.
 
I think they would really have lasted in the long run. They're in love and they still cared about each other even they broke up. I voted them to be most devoted couple. For me, they're not just people who date each other. They're two people who want to spend their life together till the end.
 
If Tara survived that just wouldn't be fair to all the other couples. If they have a happy ending, all of them deserves ^^ But if Tara did survived, I think they would have one long life together, but I'm still waiting for that Willow and Oz moment 🙁

Yes, I do think that Willow and Tara would have lasted over the long haul, and I base that on one thing for the most part. Whatever their differences, their disagreements, or their arguments might have been, they always managed to eventually face them, get through them, and move on with their lives. And, most importantly, they did it together. Each of Whedon's series has had one single single relationship so strong that, once begun, can only end in death, and Twillow was the one for "Buffy."

I think they'd have made it. Once you see someone through addiction and into recovery, you can make it through almost anything IMO.

Yeah, I think they would have made it. They're were just perfect for each other. But apparently it was they were too good to last, and instead of them being the one surviving couple at the end of the series, it was Willow and Kennedy instead. :/
 
Most definitely would have made it. Though they both represented something the other needed, they were so much more than that. And, also, the break-up allowed them both to grow on their own and yet they still wanted/needed/loved each other afterward.
 
I definitely think they would have made it. they were truly in love in not just in the sense of rushing emotions and lust kind of way but they were friends as well, they respected each other, their differences didn't tear them apart in the end, they came back from that. So yeah, I think they could've made it through thick and htin.
 
I'm not sure really. I think I'm leaning more towards no. I said in one of the other threads that they had an extremely unequal relationship and I preferred the independent and strong Tara that she was once she wasn't with Willow. I suppose if she hadn't have died she may well have carried that person through in the relationship but I think it would have equally possible for her to have slipped back into the submissive role in the relationship.

There was a lot of trust issues in that relationship and they would have a lot to work through in order to make it a lasting relationship.

Yeah, there was this big trust issue. Between Willow and Oz that was never a problem. Not even after she cheated him. We never felt that from their side, just Xander was uncomfortable sometimes after that happened. That thing was mentioned again when Veruca came.
I just don't see them in the future. They are one of those couples that happened, and they ended, and we will always remember them, but I don't see some kinda of future with them. It's just that Willow had 2 gay relathionshipes in the show, Tara and Kennedy, and when we compare that, Tara is like Heaven for Will. But there is Oz, who was just this big part of Willow she missed for years.
 
I think leaving Willow and being on her own allowed Tara to find her inner strength and recognize her own value. I do believe that would have carried forward in their relationship, and it would have been stronger than ever.
