Question If Tara Was On Angel...

What do you think would happen?

I got the random thought a while ago after reading a post similar to this - or at least involving Tara on Angel.

So I thought a little. What if instead of dying on Buffy she could chill out in L.A., or when she moved out she went to L.A. for a while. I think Angel would have been pretty cool if Tara was there.

Though if she was, how exactly would things play out?
Although I guess she could play as the Wicca of the group as she was a Wicca on Buffy.

Would she still keep her lesbianism? If she were, how would she be with? Fred? Cordelia? Some random chick they'd throw in? (I haven't watched all of Angel so don't yell at me, I'm only mid-season three)

Another thing is would Tara live? Would she stay until the finale? Would she pop over to Sunnydale every once in a while? Would she stay forever?

I had a thought she'd stay at L.A. and come back at Sunnydale in mid-season seven to find out Willow was with Kennedy (*megasigh*) and would stay for an episode or two then head back to L.A.

And if she were to die on Angel, how do you think she would go?

Wow, that is random, lol! 😀 I don't think she'd fit in with Angel's team, to be honest. She's too good. Not to say that Angel's people aren't good, because they are. I love Gunn, Cordelia, and Wesley as heroes. But AtS is pretty much morally gray all throughout, and so the heroes also often sacrifice integrity, whether it's for the greater good or for their personal reasons. I can't see Tara doing that. I feel like if she were on Angel, she'd be killed off. (Kinda like every female character on AtS...😉)

I don't think Tara would have fitted into the AtS world AT ALL. Especially with where the show went in S4.

I know that by the time she died, Tara wasn't that same little shy girl we met in 'Hush', but she was still timid and quiet, and they already had that in Fred. Fred was able to hold her own because she'd spent five years in a hell dimension, so she was able to find that strength it took to hang with Angel and his crew.

Tara didn't have any of that. She had a life time of magic, yes, but only two years of actually being in the middle of the fight, and even then, she was barely a step above Dawn in the fighting stakes, staying mostly in the shadows. I don't think she would have been able to cope in the world of AtS.

If they had decided to switch her over, then I think they would have had to do something pretty dramatic to her character to fit her into that world. Vamp her, maybe. We all know Amber makes a KICK ASS vamp!!

Hmm...yeah, you guys do have good points, but if they touched her up a little she could probably fit in a little bit better than she would have before. I can see her on Angel, I just had a hard time thinking on how she would fit into L.A. and the group.

And maybe she didn't have to stay there for a long time, maybe she could come over a few times to deliver some sort of news - though it's not all that likely they would know who she is xD

Ooh, Vampire Tara might be cool, especially since actual Tara is so kind and innocent. The vampire side might be as evil as she was good, and that'd be a really dark storyline! I think that would fit in with AtS better. I don't watch Supernatural (is that what y'all are referring to? 😀), but I don't doubt that Amber would make an awesome vamp either.

Fighting skills depend on the plot needs, you know. Look at Wesley, total wimp in Sunnydale, kick-ass demon fighter in LA. Or Willow, useless in Sunnydale in S7, an unstoppable force of nature in Orpheus. Or Cordelia who wasn't exactly any more use in a fight than Tara when she went to LA. I am not saying that Tara in AtS would have been a good idea for sure, but it could have worked.

Would she still keep her lesbianism? If she were, how would she be with? Fred?

Considering that Fred is pretty much Willow 2.0., she seems like the obvious candidate.

Personally I think she was to similar to Fred for it to have worked. Having said that she would have made a great female presence in Season 5 after Cordy and Fred got killed off. One of my biggest problems with the end of AtS Season 5 was that there was no feminine presences (I don't count Illyria, Nina or Eve).

Vampire Witch Tara?, sounds good. I'd probably like to see her as a Villain. She'd try to bring her soul back using her Magics but summons a powerful Witch from the Salem Trials that possesses her body.

To me Tara wouldn't have fit with Angel inc and I can't see them making the Tara I love fit with them with the character traits that she has. She would have to be changed and I'm not sure I would have liked to see those changes, cause they would made her less Tara-ish.

As much as I hate to say this, and I'm sorry to all Tara lovers, Tara is probably the least needed character on Buffy, story wise. Yes, she helped some, she even saved Willow in so many ways. But there is barely a place for her on Buffy. She's just Willow's girlfriend, and not much more than that. I wish she was, but we got all of her on Buffy, and that's not much. So she wouldn't be needed or interesting on Ats either. It's a shame, because the writers COULD have given her character more depth, more of herself besides being Willow's girlfriend. It might have been the writers' mistake not to put her more into the story, she was just a side note, IMO. I believe they could have done more with her character.

They could have sunken her in to a point we felt she would fit. I don't think it would be that weird. I mean, did they have a wicca on Angel? (Again, I'm only mid season-three...shame I never watched Angel before, but I heard stuff...)

I feel Angel could have probably have been a place for her where she was deeply part of something and connected...*looks at the post above* and yeah, not just Willow's girlfriend.

and there's again with the theory of vamping her so she might squeeze in a little better.

Tara would be completely out of place in Angel's crew. Her only skills would be magic and the ability to research old texts and scrolls, assuming that she could even read them. As far as magic went, Wes was more thn capable of handling anything that they needed, and he would have certainly been better with research as well, having been trained as a Watcher. As part of the Scooby team, Tara could stay back out of the most of the action, and, frankly, none of the Scoobies actually engaged in a tremendous amount of actual combat, serving more as support for Buffy and whoever her current boyfriend, whether it was Angel, Riley, or Spike. Angel's team, including Fred and Cordy, were all trained, experienced, motivated, and committed. they were, literally, professional demon fighters. Tara was just too gentle to have lasted in their company, and changing to the point that she would fit in would have totally destroyed everything that was so special about her.

I'm pretty much indifferent to Tara but I think she would have actually got along very well with the Fang Gang and been a very soothing presence. I'm just not sure what role she would have played. I could see her in a recurring role, but I'm not sure where an arc would have fitted in.

I think she and Angel would have quite liked each other. I can imagine them trying to get a conversation going. Oh the sublime awkwardness of it all! lol

Argh, I made this nice long post and my internet went off, now I need to type it all up again.


I had this idea that once Tara moved out in Tabula Rasa, she would go to LA for a while - only to be followed by a demon thing (use your imagination for the demon, I got nothing)

After hearing they help people, Tara heads over to Angel Investigations and asks for, well...help. They find out why they want Tara and help Tara with a little bit of fighting techniques, just enough for her to defend herself.

Once the demon is defeated, Tara has nowhere to go, so Angel offers her a room in the hotel long enough for her to find a place. Eventually, Tara wants to help after sitting around and watching all the time, and the gang thinks her magic could help them in a few things, so she stays, and becomes a regular.

And upon hearing Cordelia and Fred die, I would like it if Tara wouldn't die this time XD

This is exactly why she wouldn't have worked on Angel! Every character changes, thats what I love about the evolution of seasons. But yes, it would have to be in a way that was still true to who Tara was. On Angel, she would have had to toughen up. Cordelia did and Fred did as was mentioned earlier....but is that the direction we want her to go? Sometimes my favorite part of Tara was her innocence and "realness". She was like the average person thrown into extraordinary circumstances (plus witch powers of course).🙂 I kind of love the pure light of her character and Angel was exactly the opposite. Dark and brooding.

I just want to stick up for Tara's combat skills a little here: she might not be able to make a fist, but she was MUCH more adept at using offensive magic in a pinch than Willow ever was. Willow was great at support, but it was Tara that threw the fireballs.

That said, I don't think she'd have fitted in with Angel Investigations in LA. She's much more a reactionary kind of person. AtS was all about going out and finding the trouble before it finds you (or some innocent). Tara was willing to help fight the good fight, but her biggest tie to that was Willow. I don't think she could have become a frontline fighter without something drastic happening to her character, and there's no way I'd have wanted to see her hardened like that. Cordelia's transformation was beautifully tragic, but Tara's would just have been mean!
