(I originally asked this about a year ago, but a lot of new folks have come aboard, so I just thought it was worth bringing up again)

Whatever your favorite ship is, let's just imagine that the worst happens, and Joss comes up with a definite, final, last episode, never gonna be another story featuring these characters again, and whatever your favorite ship is doesn't make the final cut. Instead of A winding up with B, the way that you just KNOW that things should really be, A winds up madly in love with X. (No real names or specific ships, just your favorite) will you be:

A) Angry

B) Won't care one way or the other. It's just fiction, after all

C) Just relieved that the debate is finally over
 
While I have my personal preferences, I can't think of one of the large, supported 'ships that do not have anything going for it. So the answer to your question is really d) None of the above. Ill be a bit wistful to see my preferred solution be a definite no-go, but I won't be angry. I've invested enough energy in enjoying the Buffyverse that I know that I won't be indifferent, though.
 
C) definitely. I don't think Faith will ever gonna get with Buffy in the end. So yeah, maybe I won't care much. I can accept it as canon. 🙂
 
I'd agree with miromurr and pick 'None of the above' because I would have to kill Joss. Then again, Anya and Xander didn't end up together. But, that's not the point here. If Xander was with someone else by Chosen, I would have cried. But if this was the Buffy/Angel/Spike-ness, I don't think I'd have minded either way.
 
I might be a little disappointed but I would never go as far as being angry. And I would care some but nothing that would shake my world. And no matter what I doubt the debate will be over. I'm sure some people still wouldn't except some things as final. Or they would at least debate how it's the wrong decision.
 
I'd be a little angry, I guess, but my main ships were canon at some point -- Spuffy and Fresley -- so in the end, I'd be alright with it. I definitely wouldn't be relieved that the debate is finally over, which would probably only be Spuffy vs. Bangel, because I like an open ending and having my own opinions (but not knowing no one is completely correct one way or another.)
 
I would be angry, but I'd deal.

After all, Joss has said: 'Trust the tale, not the teller.' which I've been doing since he split Bangel up 😛
 
It really depends. I might be slightly pissed off if the character ends up with someone that they absolutely should not be with, but I'd get over. In my heart, the ship will always go on. 😀

How will I feel if Buffy doesn't end up with Spike? Well, disappointed, for sure. How will I feel if she ends up with Angel? Upset, absolutely. But I'll deal. What else can I do?

But...how will I feel if she ends up alone? I would prefer that, to be honest. That way it's left open and there is no final answer. Then we can debate it until the end of time. I think that's what Joss meant when he said that in creating Buffy he created an icon - a story that never dies, that never fades, or that never loses its appeal.

So, I guess I choose Option A. But believe me, the anger I will feel if our Buff ends up with Captain Broody-Pants will be nothing compared to the anger I'll feel if Spike is Twilight.
