If The Other Guy Gets The Girl

Seriously, now, whatever 'ship you favor, what would your reaction be if Joss finally decides to settle the big question and have Buffy choose between her not so long list of lovers, and it's not the one that you had just KNOWN all along was her one and only true love? We don't have to be specific as to which guy (or gal, for that matter) finally gets the prize, it's just NOT THE ONE THAT YOU WANTED. So, how would you react?

Personally, I think that I would roll my eyes heavenward and say, "Well, at last the little (insert your own descriptive epithet here) has finally made up her half lame mind. Now it's settled and we don't have to argue about it anymore!" Except...well...truthfully, I really would miss those debates. They've always been a lot of fun.

So, what would your reaction be? (And please, don't answer with "It could never happen, because Buffy could ONLY love..." That's not an answer to my question)

I have no preferences to who Buffy ends up with (or I'm not telling, at least😉), it wouldn't really bother me that much. What does bother me is the fact that she doesn't decide, it seems so wrong to me. But saying that I agree, I would kinda miss the wee debates people have.

I mean, I don't think it's gonna go my way. Not really. I'm a Bander shipper for endgame, and that's just not all that popular. I'll be a little disappointed, I guess, but not surprised. Spike's my second choice. Honestly, though, I think Angel's gonna get the girl in the end. Grr and argh.

Well, I'm a Spuffy, but to be honest, I wouldn't exactly be devastated if Angel wound up with her. Even though I prefer her relationship with Spike, I like Bangel a lot, too, so it's sort of a win-win situation for me.

I've been discovering that I don't really have a preference for WHO she ends up with so much as HOW it happens and what kind of relationship they have. As long as she's happy--truly, really happy--and he's not making her miserable or trying to kill her or leaving town, I think I'll be okay, whether "he" is Xander, Angel, Spike, Riley, or even OZ. The only person I don't think I could BEAR for her to end up with is Parker. And that doesn't seem likely AT ALL, so I think I'll live.

I am going to agree with everyone above in saying that I don't really mind who Buffy ends up with as long as shes happy and the relationship doesnt stop her slaying. :smile: Now I want to see Kean or Bangelxx post. What would happen if Angel doesn't get his Buffy cookies after all? Let's here the answer from some hard core Bangelites!

Eh, I still like my "Normal Again" ending... none get the girl because it's all an insane dream.
I'm still of the opinion that this is a great way to "reboot" the series as well.
Especially so if discovering she is "the" vampire slayer is the reason she went insane to begin with.

On the bright side, you could have the Dorothy ending of "you were there, and you and you and even you" - or maybe neither are "real" at all.

And don't even tell me that isn't a Jossian mind-twist.

I'm not a big bangel fan, but I am a big spuffy shipper, but although I truly think that Buffy and Spike have something special and are true loves rather than first loves I wouldn't be to disappointed or surprised at all if Buffy and Angel ended up together... Although I would feel a little silly for permanently sticking up for Spike in the competition. If Buffy ended up with Xander I would be highly annoyed, I guess I'd feel a bit ripped off.

I'd probably stay away from the internet for a few years until the shrieking and wailing died down, and then mark "Good Riddance" to the Spuffy/Bangel debates (which, of course, is just wishful thinking on my part, because nothing that happens is ever going to stop that racket.)

I 'ship a lil, but I'm pretty bendy about it. I've sailed a few ships over the years and I will probably sail others, even though I kind of always wish for a certain one. So, but anyway, I don't think it would chap my hide if Buffy settled down to shippy bliss with somebody besides the person I envisioned her with. More or less, I would just be happy that Joss finally thought it was time for Buffy to have a little satisfaction with life. But honestly, I'm not sure Joss is going to ever let Buffy be that satisfied. I feel like, after 8 years of this, I kind of get the direction he's going with it: slayers don't get that option.

I would like to see Buffy prove that it is possible for a woman to have a career and a successful relationship. I would hate for Joss to leave Buffy being unhappy in love because I don't believe that women should have to choose between a career and love. I hope he doesn't do that to my feminist idol!

I actually don't mind a great deal. I do kind of hope she moves on, though. I detest the idea that she belongs to anyone or that anyone is her destiny. I do kind of hope it's not Angel in a way because I'm invested in him having his own mission and life and to be honest he keeps on growing when he's away from Buffy but when he sees her he can have a tendency to regress. I'm liking Spike post-Buffy as well. However I wont mind that much depending on the circumstance but jeez isn't she still relatively young? Does she need to make a decision soon?

If my preferred ship sailed with no Buffy on board i would naturally be disappointed but not surprised. Even though i'm pro-spuffy, nothing about the ship makes me surpremely confident or arrogant in assurance of its successs - that's the Spuffy relationship and why i love it and we spuffies are fully aware of other interested 'ships. And even if it doesn't go my way....there's always fanfic🙂

I think Id be extreamly frustrated if Buffy ended up with Angel in a movie or something....But Id get over it, Im kinda expecting it really. I keep hoping against hope for spuffy though. Bangels have my respect since I use to be one.

Side note: If they do make a movie, it better be soon, I keep having this horrible vision of 20 years down the track them making a movie for nostalgic reasons, with "hot new" actors playing the parts and a wrinkly SMG and Ally Hannigan etc. having little guest appearances as a thrill for us now old folks......Like they did with that HORRIBLE Lost In Space Movie!

As much as I have my "favourite" couplings that I'll always adore watching, whatever happens along a story line I'm always ok with as long as it's done RIGHT. For the right reasons, in the right way for those particular characters.
I'd still be a little disappointed, but as long as it's still entertaining, I'll still follow the story line..

... besides, then I get to have scenarios in my head that include me, and not Buffy 😉
