What would you do instead of watching? And no saying you would watch TV shows on your computer/device instead.

Pretty much exactly what I do now. It's rare that I watch TV anymore. The thought of no internet scares the bejesus out of me though!

Read. I hardly watched much tv in year's past. I would buy dozens of books at a time and work my way through them, all day every day. At the time I was ill and unable to work, so that was one of the reasons why I had so much spare time.

Now, I don't have as much spare time - and tv is convenient compared to books (sadly), but I do still manage to read on the go on my smartphone, be it articles, news, Buffy-Boards threads.

So yeah, reading, internet browsing and of course playing with my daughter and all the hijinks that come along with being a mother (long walks, days out, softplay, visits to the park).

I don't have a TV. I haven't watched TV for over 10 years. I've become kind of a primitive - I don't read fiction books anymore, I don't follow the news, don't really watch movies either. It worries me sometimes but I'm also happier so hey.

Reading, I really should read more now. I don't watch much tv now, but I do discuss it and am involved in fandoms a lot.

Read still more; I use to watch TV only at night and read between breaks, or during a show that I don't particularly am interested. Hard copies always. Internet is just for Boards like this one (and other social medias).

Actually, I have to be honest: if I had no TV, I think I would be too depressed to have the will to read anything; I've always loved to watch TV, since I was a child.

Oh yippee! None of those boring TV shows to watch anymore, just the incessant barrage of infomercials and the unending supply of poorly made advertisements.
I'm glad of my DVD's right now.

I may be one of the few members here who actually remembers when there was no television. (And no cracks from the peanut gallery, please!) We listened to the radio, of course, but a couple of our neighbors had guitars, and one had a fiddle (NEVER call a fiddle a violin!) They would get together most evenings after supper and sing. They weren't particularly good, but they were loud, so the whole neighborhood could sit around on their front porches and listen.

We read a lot, of course, and the old folks would gather us young folks around and tell us stories about the places that they had been, and the things that they had done. The grown ups would sit around and talk about what those idiots in Washington were doing to ruin the country.

Stuff like that.

I used to make a lot of use of my library card. I haven't used it in over a year, possibly two. My hobby of restoring antique radios is not that well-known, but it does manage to consume time. In terms of time spent, the internet consumes more time than television. One site that I am on that keeps track of cumulative time says I have spent 60 days, 18 hours and 26 minutes on it and that is DIYstompboxes. I am also on clubroadster, miata.net, audiokarma and legacyGT as main sites. This is in addition to MSN.com and e-mail every day. And of course the buffyboards and youtube.

During the day, the dog gets a morning walk that may go from 60 to 100 minutes depending on the path chosen and an additional 25 minutes at night.

I watch shows like The Librarians, The Blacklist and some car shows plus NCIS. My wife watches British mystery/detective shows and Bones. Not much overlap there. I like TV but I could live without it.

Oh man, if I didn't have TV to watch Idk what I do. I feel like I don't watch enough TV! And I watch at least 2 hours a day. lol. I would like to say that I would read more and write more, but I probably wouldn't. I'd either play more video games or I'd listen to music and play my guitar. Most likely I'd just waste my time on the internet. Now that's the real question. lol.

I would probably manage to get some things done at the computer if I'm not trying to watch TV shows at the same time I work. lol
Also more reading during the night.

Would like to say that I should spend more time doing housework but that's unfortunately not true... 😳

/SK

I would be a lot more productive! Growing up we only had one tv in the main room so had to watch what my parents wanted. So if I was in my room it was reading or out with my friends.

I'm not as addicted to TV as I used to be. I watch the news in the morning and that is the only thing I watch live. I record everything else and watch it when I have time.
