I would probably read and write more. I'm addicted to storytelling and TV is just one outlet for that. Without it, yeah, I would probably make more use of my own imagination. 🙂

All this no TV talk just made me realise now i'm at Poor Gym and not my old gym there are no tvs on the machines. How am I meant to distract myself from the fact i'm running. Plus they had Sky Sports.

My life wouldn't change dramatically. I barely use a TV as it is, actually, it's the first time in 6 years that I even own a TV. And I'm too busy to really watch shows or movies. I'll usually do that on days off, but I rarely get those. The only things that would suck is for my video games, those are more important than TV shows and movies. And family bonding time, cause me and my mom really like watching TV shows together, not having a TV would suck for that.

But as far as entertaining myself, I can survive by reading books and doing my outdoorsy activities.

I don't watch much tv these days, just 1-2 hours a week at most....well, outside of sports that is. I'd probably go to a lot more sporting events if there wasn't TV...sports is what I'd miss the most.

So the theme we are getting here is that no tv is not the end of the world and it is not necessarily a bad thing. Saying that tv in itself isn't bad. Having shows in common with people allows me to have some conversation at work with people I would never even speak to otherwise.

1.Get a cheap music player and some earphones.
2.Load the music player with your favorite songs.

We it seems like we watch a tv for the stories so it makes sense we'd may read them instead. What about watching movies? Does that count as tv? Cause id rewatch a lot of movies without tv shows.

Where the hell are you getting free TV?! I want whatever you have! Here cable and satellite are $80+ a month. That's why I got for the much cheaper Netflix, but that off course doesn't have all the new series.

all you need is an HD antenna and you get free HDtv. I get about 40 HD channels- all the big networks and then little stuff. Then you take the $80+ a month you were spending on cable and satellite and buy show seasons off of itunes and amazon. You save ALOT of money in the long run.

$1000 annually for cable (give or take)... you can get a season pass for airing episodes on Amazon for $25 (for this season of the walking dead). You could watch 40 shows a year for the price of cable.. and that's not counting the network shows that you naturally pick-up on terrestrial HD channels.
 
@brinkster130 "Libraries 😉" Ok. Fine. I will spill the proverbial beans. I cannot DO libraries. I cannot DO half price/used books. I just cant. They are alright for school, but a book that I read for enjoyment I feel uncomfortable reading one that has already been read. I am a hot neurotic mess, but that is the truth. It just feels dirty checking out a library book, or buying a used one.

Sadly, and HF antenna also costs money. I already don't spend any money on cable and satellite, there's no way in hell I'd ever pay that kind of money for TV (nor is there any way I could afford it even if I wanted to). That's also why I wouldn't really care to not have a TV at all, since I already don't really watch it. I don't buy seasons either, I rend them for 3-4$ at the video rental store. Netflix really covers my need for TV/movies for under 100$ a year.

As for books, that's all on you if you can't stand libraries 😛

@Mr. Pole no definitely not paying for cable, was just saying if I did it'd be around $80/month. Internet alone is already expensive enough as it is!

I do until I get to the overloaded part and then throw them out and start all over.. at one point I had close to 1000.. now I might only have 200. Most I read digitally now unless there is something that really tempts me... like that Game of Thrones Box set that I was shown.
