I was thinking about this and was wondering what the consensus take is on the fact in Season 8 it is revealed that Warren wasn't actually killed by Willow, that Amy saved his life.
So I'm wondering, how then does the First impersonate Warren? If he never died, I thought the First could only take the form of a dead person?

looking forward to see what everyones views are!

Whedon & Allie admitted that it was a mistake- that they hadn't thought about how The First appearing as Warren would affect their decision in the comics to say that Warren never did die. It's a continuity error. Meh, it happens! 🙂

What VisionGirl said. Joss admitted the misstake in the letter section in a later issue(that I think should have been included in the TPB) and tried to fanwank it by saying that Amy brought him back from the dead but didn't tell him, just lied and said he almost died.

Good enough explanation, but this makes the Warren misstake in the Reteat arc even more embarassing.

I agree with the things said here. I know that Warren was never dead, may it helps you to imagine that he was dead some seconds and brought back to life with Amy's spell!

Ah, it all makes sense now.
By any chance do any of you have a link to Whedon saying it was a mistake?

I've got the TPB's but I didn't see any mention of it in there.

Thanks for the speedy replies everyone!

It was just Joss making stuff up as he went along, like everything else in season 8.

tut tut I'm slightly disappointed, one of the things I love about Buffy and Angel is the almost perfect continuity... suppose no ones perfect though
