If you avoid season 8, Why?

I haven't read season 8 mainly because I got all of Buffy seasons 1-7 as a dvd box set for £40 and Angel seasons 1-5 for £35 last year (compared to a friend who bought each and every half season for £20 each as they came out on VHS back in the very early 2000's).

My theory is, if I wait I may get a nice special edition hard back version of S8 for a lot less than buying the individual comics separately. (Same goes for the Angel comics)

Plus....I can read all about what happens in s8 on sites like this 🙂
 
I feel that since the writers no longer have a boundary they've went a little psycho and over the top, trying to make everything as crazy as possible. SO many things happened this season
Bander, Dander, Angel, Batsu, Warren alive, vampires known, Faith and Giles, Willow flying, etc
, it's just a bit too much for one season. Something that's always made me like Buffy more than Angel was the fact that Buffy always had one many storyline, and they stuck to it, with a decent amount of plot twists of course. But now it reminds me of ambitious fanfiction. 😀 Also, main things seem OOC, and I don't respect many of the characters (well, Buffy, who seems to be throwing herself at every willing human) as much as I used to.

I actually don't care too much about the Twilight thing, but I HATE
Dander and Bander. Seriously, like in S5 when 20 year old Xander was babysitting 13 year old Dawn... Gross! 😀 It also reminds me of All The Way when Buffy said to Xander "What? She's only 15 and my sister, so don't even think about- oh."
 
I guess its just inconvenient for me..gotta go to comic book store and wait long for the next issue..i heard there doing a show with the comics in comic form..so if that is true i'll watch it for sure..another thing is i heard some of the plots and it seems all over the place more than usual
 
Before the comic was released I had started putting together a fan-fic; The Debt Collector, I was also adapting a story I had written. By writing then adding two chapters they could be join one story to another story.
As the comics continued to be made, the name I had chosen for Carla's sister became the latest bad guy.
Then there was the Angel comic. Those two chapters I had written, the first was about how an immortal army started, the title of the chapter was Aftermath.
A few other scenarios were the same as I had written. I figured it was best not to read the comics, to try and avoid any further similarities.
That is why some of my more recent stuff is so far removed from what Buffy would do it has to be different, such as Buffy talking to a Sasquatch.
 
When I was done with the season 8 comic: Vampy Cat. What in the name of all that is holy...?! 😡

Even though I absolutely hate Warren though I thought it was funny that
they he has to depend on Amy to live, what with all his misogyny.
 
For all of you who feel you are to far away from a comic book store, I feel your pain. But I myself have found buying season 8 in the form of the Dark Horse paperback volumes from Amazon is the best way to go. They cost about £6 or £7 each, and have about 5 issues in each one. Delivery is free, too, so I have found this the easiest and cheapest way to read season eight. Just thought I mention it for all those who weren't aware of them 🙂

The main reason I avoid it is because BtVS and Angel were TV shows and I got into them because of the actors and the way it was portrayed on TV. I don't get that same feeling from reading a book... let alone a comic book. Like, a sad part in one of the comics would not get to me at all unlike if it were on TV and I could really 'feel' what the characters were feeling.

I'm not sure of how to explain it really.
 
I was pretty pleased with how things ended so though I have a certain need for more I'm just not sure that a comic book format is for me. I've thought more and more about reading them though because I do miss both Buffy and Angel and it might be interesting to see where the story goes. Though admittedly I do feel that I don't take the comics or books as seriously as I do the shows so it would still kind of be alternate reality Buffy for me if I read it
